Chapter 14: The Last Choice Of Alejandro Moretti

“Emma!”

Alejandro’s voice tore through the mansion.

Not the voice of a mafia boss.

Not the voice of a man whose name terrified entire cities.

The voice of a father.

A father who had already lost one daughter.

And refused to lose another.

He pushed himself forward.

Pain exploded through his body.

The poison.

The weakness.

The hours of suffering.

None of it mattered anymore.

Bruno grabbed his arm.

“Boss, you can’t move like this.”

Alejandro pulled away.

“Don’t tell me what I can’t do.”

The old Alejandro was returning.

But this time, something was different.

Before, his anger was fueled by revenge.

Now it was fueled by love.

Bruno looked at the pink backpack lying on the floor.

“He took her.”

Victor walked toward the wall.

“No.”

Everyone looked at him.

Victor pointed at the message.

“The writing.”

“What about it?”

“It’s not a threat.”

Bruno frowned.

“Then what is it?”

Victor touched the letters carefully.

“It’s a challenge.”

Alejandro looked at him.

“Explain.”

Victor stared at the words.

“Adrian never wanted Emma immediately.”

Silence.

“He wanted us to find her.”

Clara understood.

“He wants us to follow.”

Victor nodded.

“Exactly.”

Angelo looked toward the hallway.

“A trap.”

“Yes.”

Alejandro’s eyes became cold.

“Then we walk into it.”

Everyone looked at him.

Bruno shook his head.

“No.”

Alejandro turned.

“No?”

“You are poisoned.”

“I don’t care.”

“You could collapse before reaching her.”

Alejandro stepped closer.

“Three years ago, I wasn’t there when Kiara needed me.”

The room became silent.

His voice lowered.

“I won’t make that mistake twice.”

Nobody argued.

Because everyone understood.

This was no longer about survival.

This was about redemption.

The secret passage beneath the mansion had existed for generations.

Most of the family did not know about it.

Even Victor, who knew almost every corner of the estate, had never entered.

Angelo opened the hidden door behind the library.

The old man looked at the darkness below.

“This was built by my grandfather.”

Alejandro looked at him.

“For what?”

Angelo answered:

“To escape.”

A bitter smile appeared.

“Every generation of Moretti men built a way out.”

Victor looked down the stairs.

“Funny.”

“What?”

“We spent our whole lives building exits.”

A pause.

“But nobody built a way to stop the enemy from getting inside.”

Nobody answered.

They descended.

Alejandro.

Victor.

Bruno.

Clara.

Angelo.

Five people connected by blood, betrayal, and regret.

And somewhere below…

Emma.

The underground chamber was unlike anything Alejandro had ever seen.

It was not a prison.

Not a storage room.

It was a laboratory.

Clean.

Modern.

Cold.

The walls were covered with screens.

Documents.

Photographs.

Years of research.

Project Eclipse.

At the center of the room sat Emma.

She was not tied up.

She was sitting in a chair.

Holding her stuffed rabbit.

Adrian stood nearby.

Alejandro immediately moved forward.

“Emma.”

Her face lit up.

“Mr. Moretti!”

She started to stand.

Adrian raised a hand.

“Stop.”

Alejandro froze.

The anger returned.

“Move away from her.”

Adrian smiled.

“You still think this is about violence.”

“It is.”

“No.”

Adrian looked at Emma.

“This is about choice.”

Emma looked confused.

“What choice?”

Adrian walked toward her.

“For years, people have believed power comes from fear.”

He looked at Alejandro.

“He believed it.”

Then at Angelo.

“He believed it.”

Then Victor.

“He believed it.”

Finally Bruno.

“He believed it.”

Everyone remained silent.

Adrian continued.

“But Emma proves something else.”

“What?”

“That people can choose kindness.”

He looked at the screens.

“She walked into a room where the most dangerous man in New York was dying.”

A pause.

“And instead of running…”

“She helped him.”

Emma looked at Alejandro.

Adrian smiled.

“That is why she is important.”

Alejandro stepped forward.

“She is important because she is a child.”

Adrian shook his head.

“You still don’t understand.”

“No.”

Alejandro’s voice became colder.

“You don’t understand.”

The room went quiet.

“You studied humans for decades.”

A pause.

“You collected data.”

Another pause.

“You built systems.”

Alejandro looked at Emma.

“But you never understood the thing that makes people human.”

Adrian frowned.

“What?”

“Love.”

The word echoed.

Simple.

Powerful.

Adrian laughed.

“Love is weakness.”

Alejandro shook his head.

“No.”

He looked at Emma.

“Love is the reason I’m still standing.”

For the first time…

Adrian looked uncertain.

A tiny crack in his confidence.

Then the screens activated.

A new file appeared.

PROJECT ECLIPSE FINAL RECORD

Everyone turned.

Adrian’s face changed.

“No.”

Angelo looked surprised.

“What?”

Bruno moved closer.

“The system unlocked itself.”

Everyone looked at Emma.

The device in her backpack was glowing.

The same device she carried all night.

The same device that opened every secret.

A message appeared.

SUBJECT ZERO AUTHORIZATION ACCEPTED

Emma stared.

“What did I do?”

Alejandro looked at her.

“Nothing.”

But everyone knew something had happened.

The final file opened.

A video appeared.

A woman sat in front of the camera.

Isabella Moretti.

Alejandro’s mother.

Dead for years.

But alive in the recording.

Her voice filled the chamber.

“If you are watching this…”

She looked directly at the camera.

“…then Adrian has returned.”

Everyone froze.

Isabella continued.

“I knew one day he would come for the children.”

Adrian stepped backward.

For the first time, real fear appeared on his face.

Isabella looked serious.

“Adrian Vale was never my partner.”

Silence.

“He was my son.”

Nobody moved.

Alejandro stared.

“What?”

Angelo closed his eyes.

Because he knew.

Isabella continued:

“Adrian is my first child.”

A pause.

“The child I had before Angelo.”

The entire room froze.

Victor whispered:

“Brother…”

Alejandro looked at Adrian.

The enemy.

The mastermind.

The man behind everything.

Was not a stranger.

He was family.

Isabella’s voice continued:

“And Adrian was never interested in controlling the Moretti empire.”

A pause.

“He wanted something else.”

The screen showed an old photograph.

Two babies.

One was Alejandro.

The other…

Adrian.

Isabella’s final words echoed:

“He wanted to prove that the wrong child inherited the world.”

The screen went black.

Nobody spoke.

Then Adrian smiled.

A slow, broken smile.

Because the truth was finally exposed.

“Yes.”

He looked at Alejandro.

“That was always the problem.”

A pause.

“You were chosen.”

He looked at Emma.

“And now…”

His eyes became darker.

“I will choose what happens next.”

The laboratory doors locked automatically.

Red lights flashed.

A countdown appeared.

SELF-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE ACTIVATED

05:00

Everyone froze.

Adrian smiled.
