Chapter 14: The Last Rossi War

The live broadcast ended.
But the damage was already done.
Within minutes, every major news network in Europe was reporting the same story.
THE ROSSI HEIR CRISIS.
The name that represented luxury, wealth, and influence had become the center of the greatest scandal in decades.
A missing wife.
A secret child.
A hidden bloodline.
A betrayed family.
And now...
Two people claiming the right to the Rossi legacy.
Julian watched the empty screen.
For years, he had believed enemies came from outside.
Competitors.
Rivals.
People who wanted his company.
But he had been wrong.
The greatest threat had always been inside his own family.
Marco approached him.
"Sir."
Julian turned.
"What do we know about Camila?"
Marco opened a digital file.
"Her real name is Camila Valenti Rossi."
Julian frowned.
"Valenti?"
"Yes."
"The Valenti family was connected to the Rossi empire decades ago."
Lorenzo nodded.
"The Valentis were one of the original families involved in creating the trust."
Julian looked at him.
"So she does have a claim."
Lorenzo shook his head.
"Not the claim she believes."
"Explain."
"The trust was created to prevent inheritance wars."
"It recognizes descendants."
"But it does not give automatic control."
Julian understood.
"The heir must prove they can protect the family."
"Exactly."
Elena listened quietly.
Julian noticed.
"What is it?"
She looked at the floor.
"Camila."
"What about her?"
"She was never just trying to take the company."
Julian waited.
"What do you mean?"
Elena hesitated.
"I met her before."
Everyone looked surprised.
Julian especially.
"When?"
"Before I disappeared."
"Where?"
"At the hospital."
Eight months earlier.
Before Elena left.
Before the threats.
She had gone for a pregnancy appointment.
She was nervous.
Excited.
She wanted to tell Julian the good news in person.
While waiting...
A woman sat beside her.
Camila.
At the time, Elena didn't know who she was.
They spoke briefly.
About families.
About children.
About fear.
Camila had looked at Elena's ultrasound photo.
And said something strange.
"Some children are born carrying expectations they never asked for."
Elena remembered those words.
Because they sounded like sadness.
Not jealousy.
Julian looked at the screen.
"She knew about the baby before I did."
Elena nodded.
"Yes."
Another piece.
Another hidden connection.
Suddenly...
The archive lights flickered.
Everyone froze.
Marco checked the security system.
"Someone is accessing the building."
"From where?"
He looked confused.
"Inside."
The answer made everyone tense.
A door at the back of the archive opened.
Slowly.
A man stepped in.
Older.
Wounded.
Carrying no weapon.
Julian recognized him immediately.
"Mr. Alvarez?"
The Grand Alcazar hotel manager.
The man who had hidden Elena's identity.
The man who had been forced to stay silent.
Everyone aimed weapons.
Julian raised his hand.
"Wait."
The manager looked exhausted.
"I need to tell you something."
"What?"
He looked at Elena.
"I'm sorry."
Her expression changed.
"For what?"
The manager lowered his head.
"I was the person who helped you disappear."
Silence.
Julian stared.
"You?"
The man nodded.
"Eight months ago, Victoria came to me."
Victoria closed her eyes.
"I asked him to protect her."
Julian looked at his mother.
"Again."
Victoria looked ashamed.
"I knew Adrian was dangerous."
"I knew Elena needed somewhere hidden."
"The hotel was the only place I controlled."
Elena whispered:
"You knew I was there."
Victoria nodded.
"Yes."
"And you never told Julian."
"No."
"Why?"
Victoria looked at her.
"Because Adrian was watching him."
Julian felt exhausted.
Every secret seemed to create another.
"Everyone made decisions for me."
His voice became quiet.
"My wife."
"My mother."
"My friends."
"Everyone thought they were protecting me."
He looked around.
"But nobody trusted me enough to tell me the truth."
No one answered.
Because they knew he was right.
The hotel manager stepped forward.
"I have something."
He removed a small envelope from his jacket.
"I kept this hidden."
Julian took it.
"From who?"
"Camila."
Everyone froze.
"What?"
The manager swallowed.
"She came to the hotel two months ago."
"She asked about Elena."
Julian opened the envelope.
Inside were photographs.
Camila meeting with Adrian.
Camila meeting with board members.
Camila meeting with someone else.
Someone Julian recognized.
A senior government official.
Marco's expression changed.
"This is bigger than the Rossi company."
Julian looked at the photos.
"What were they planning?"
The manager answered:
"To force the Rossi family into a public collapse."
"Then they would buy everything."
Elena whispered:
"Everything?"
"The company."
"The hotels."
"The shipping routes."
"The entire empire."
Then Julian noticed something.
A photograph.
Camila wasn't smiling.
She looked angry.
Not victorious.
Angry.
Like someone who had been betrayed.
He looked closer.
In the picture...
Camila was arguing with Adrian.
Julian pointed.
"Enhance this."
Marco zoomed in.
The conversation wasn't audible.
But the body language was clear.
Camila was furious.
Adrian looked afraid.
Julian frowned.
"They weren't partners."
"No," Marco said.
"They were using each other."
A phone suddenly rang.
Everyone froze.
It was Elena's old phone.
The one she thought had disappeared eight months ago.
Julian looked at her.
"Where did that come from?"
The hotel manager answered quietly.
"I found it in the apartment."
Elena stared.
"I thought it was destroyed."
Julian picked it up.
One new message.
From an unknown number.
YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES.
Another message appeared.
BRING THE CHILD TO THE ROOFTOP.
Julian's expression turned dark.
"No."
A third message arrived.
This time with a photograph.
A live photograph.
Taken seconds ago.
It showed the hidden archive entrance.
Everyone inside.
And the baby.
The message continued:
OR THE WORLD WILL LEARN WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR FATHER.
Julian looked up.
The threat was not about money anymore.
Not about inheritance.
Not about the company.
It was personal.
Someone wanted the truth about Alessandro Rossi destroyed forever.
Marco checked the building map.
"The rooftop."
Julian looked at him.
"She's there?"
"Possibly."
Lorenzo shook his head.
"No."
Everyone turned.
"Camila doesn't operate alone."
"Who else?"
Lorenzo's expression became grave.
"The person who taught her."
Julian felt cold.
"Who?"
Lorenzo whispered:
"The last person you should have trusted."
A pause.
Then everyone looked toward Victoria.
But Victoria shook her head.
"No."
Her face turned pale.
"Not me."
Julian stared.
"Then who?"
Lorenzo answered:
"The person who raised Julian after his father died."
Silence.
Julian's blood froze.
Because only one person fit that description.
The person who had always been there.
The person everyone trusted.
His childhood protector.
His family's oldest advisor.
The man who knew every Rossi secret.
Lorenzo whispered:
"Your grandfather's closest friend."
A name.
A ghost from the past.
"Richard Vale."
Above them...
On the rooftop of the Grand Alcazar Hotel...
Camila stood beside the city lights.
A man stood behind her.
Older.
Elegant.
Calm.
Richard Vale.
He looked down at the hotel.
Then smiled.
"The final piece is finally in place."
Camila looked uncertain.
"What if Julian refuses?"
Richard smiled.
"He won't."
"Why?"
"Because unlike his father..."
A pause.
"Julian still believes everyone can be saved."
Camila looked toward the city.
"And if he can't?"
Richard answered:
May you like
"Then we take the child."
