Chapter 11: The Birth of the Heir

The hidden passage beneath the Grand Alcazar Hotel seemed endless.
Every step echoed.
Every breath felt borrowed.
Julian carried Elena through the narrow underground corridor while Marco and his team fought to keep the attackers away.
But Julian barely heard the gunfire anymore.
Barely noticed the collapsing walls.
His entire universe had become the woman in his arms.
"Stay with me."
Elena opened her eyes weakly.
"I'm here."
"No."
His voice trembled.
"You stay here."
She gave him a tired smile.
"You always did this."
"Did what?"
"Acted like you could control everything."
For a moment...
Despite everything...
Julian almost smiled.
"Maybe because usually I can."
"Not this time."
She placed his hand against her stomach.
"This time we just wait."
Those words frightened him more than any enemy.
Because Julian Rossi was a man who solved problems.
Money.
Negotiations.
Companies.
Crises.
Everything had a solution.
Except this.
A child arriving too early.
A woman he almost lost.
A family destroyed by secrets.
They reached the end of the tunnel.
A massive steel door stood before them.
Lorenzo entered a code.
Nothing happened.
He tried again.
Still nothing.
Julian's expression hardened.
"What now?"
Lorenzo looked troubled.
"The system was changed."
"By who?"
A terrible silence followed.
Then Victoria answered.
"Adrian."
Everyone looked at her.
"He knows this place."
Julian stared.
"How?"
Victoria hesitated.
"Because I brought him here."
The confession shocked everyone.
Julian stepped back.
"You did what?"
"Years ago."
Victoria looked exhausted.
"Before you knew him."
"Before I knew what he was."
"You introduced my enemy into my life."
Victoria lowered her head.
"Yes."
For once...
The powerful Victoria Rossi looked like a mother who had made the worst mistake of her life.
Another contraction hit Elena.
She gripped Julian's arm.
Hard.
He immediately turned.
"Elena?"
Her breathing became uneven.
Victoria checked the time.
"We don't have much longer."
Marco looked at the door.
"Can we force it?"
Lorenzo shook his head.
"No."
"Why?"
"Because behind that door is the archive."
Everyone froze.
The archive.
The one secret everyone wanted.
The one thing Adrian was trying to destroy.
Julian looked at him.
"And?"
"If the door is damaged..."
Lorenzo paused.
"The evidence inside will be destroyed."
Marco looked frustrated.
"So we choose between opening the door and saving the evidence?"
Julian looked at Elena.
"No."
Everyone turned.
"We choose Elena."
He looked at Lorenzo.
"Forget the archive."
Lorenzo stared.
"But—"
"I said forget it."
His voice carried absolute certainty.
"My wife and my child come first."
For several seconds...
Lorenzo said nothing.
Then something unexpected happened.
The old man's expression softened.
"You really are your father's son."
Suddenly...
A sound came from behind them.
Footsteps.
Slow.
Confident.
Everyone turned.
Adrian.
He walked through the smoke-filled tunnel alone.
No guards.
No weapons visible.
Just that same calm smile.
"You always did have one weakness, Julian."
Julian positioned himself between Adrian and Elena.
"What?"
"Love."
Adrian shook his head.
"It makes intelligent men make foolish choices."
Marco raised his weapon.
"Stay where you are."
Adrian ignored him.
"You know what's funny?"
Nobody answered.
"I spent years studying Julian."
"His habits."
"His decisions."
"His emotional weaknesses."
He looked at Elena.
"And I always thought she was the weakness."
A pause.
"I was wrong."
Julian narrowed his eyes.
"What do you mean?"
Adrian smiled.
"She's his strength."
Then he looked at Victoria.
"And that's why you failed too."
Victoria frowned.
"What?"
"You spent your entire life protecting the Rossi name."
"But Julian?"
Adrian smiled.
"He finally learned what the name was supposed to protect."
For the first time...
Adrian didn't look like a villain.
He looked almost disappointed.
Like someone who had lost an argument.
Then he lifted his hand.
Everyone aimed their weapons.
But he wasn't reaching for a gun.
He held a small device.
Julian's expression changed.
"What is that?"
Adrian pressed the button.
The steel door behind them unlocked.
Everyone froze.
"You could have opened it this entire time?"
Adrian smiled.
"Yes."
"Then why?"
"Because I wanted everyone here."
The door slowly opened.
Behind it...
Was a hidden chamber.
Inside were shelves filled with documents.
Old photographs.
Hard drives.
Legal files.
The lost history of the Rossi family.
The archive.
Adrian stepped aside.
"Go ahead."
Julian didn't move.
"Why are you helping us?"
Adrian looked at him.
"Because I want you to see the truth."
"What truth?"
His smile disappeared.
"The truth about who your father really was."
Inside the archive...
The walls were covered with decades of secrets.
Lorenzo walked in first.
Victoria followed.
Julian carried Elena carefully to a chair.
Marco secured the entrance.
Then Lorenzo opened an old wooden box.
Inside was a letter.
The paper had yellowed with age.
A name was written on the front.
Julian Rossi.
His breath stopped.
"My father wrote this?"
Lorenzo nodded.
"Before he died."
Julian opened it.
The handwriting was unmistakable.
His father's.
The first line read:
"My son, if you are reading this, then the Rossi family has failed to protect you."
Julian's hands trembled.
He continued reading.
"The greatest danger to our family was never outside enemies."
"It was the people who believed they deserved to own it."
He looked up.
Everyone was silent.
Then he read the next sentence.
And his entire world changed.
"Your mother knows the truth."
Julian slowly turned toward Victoria.
She closed her eyes.
"No..."
He continued.
"But she is not the person who betrayed me."
A breath of relief escaped Victoria.
Until Julian read the next line.
"The person who betrayed me is the one you call your closest friend."
Everyone looked at Adrian.
Adrian's smile vanished.
Julian turned the page.
There was a final sentence.
Short.
Terrifying.
"Adrian Keller was never my enemy."
Julian frowned.
"What?"
He read again.
"He was my son."
The room went silent.
Nobody moved.
Nobody spoke.
Then Julian slowly looked at Adrian.
"What did you say?"
Adrian's face had completely changed.
No more confidence.
No more arrogance.
Only anger.
Lorenzo whispered:
"Impossible."
Victoria looked horrified.
"Your father..."
Julian stared at Adrian.
"You're my brother?"
Adrian laughed.
But there was no humor.
Only pain.
"Half-brother."
The truth finally surfaced.
The man who destroyed Julian's life...
Was not a stranger.
He was family.
Before anyone could react...
Elena cried out.
Everyone turned.
Her face was pale.
Her hands gripped Julian's.
"It's time."
Julian froze.
"What?"
Victoria immediately understood.
"The baby."
Another contraction.
Stronger.
The room transformed instantly.
The war.
The betrayal.
The empire.
Everything disappeared.
Only one thing mattered.
Bringing a child into the world.
Marco called for medical support.
The team prepared everything they could.
And while enemies surrounded them...
While decades of lies collapsed around them...
Julian held Elena's hand.
"I'm here."
She looked at him.
"Promise me something."
"Anything."
"Don't let our child grow up surrounded by the same hatred."
Julian kissed her forehead.
"I promise."
Minutes later...
A baby's cry echoed through the hidden archive.
A sound louder than gunfire.
Stronger than betrayal.
A new life.
A new beginning.
Julian looked down.
Their child.
Their family.
For the first time in eight months...
He felt whole.
But then...
The lights inside the archive suddenly turned off.
The emergency system activated.
A message appeared on the wall screen.
One sentence.
Written in red.
"CONGRATULATIONS, JULIAN."
"THE HEIR HAS ARRIVED."
A pause.
Then another line appeared.
"NOW WATCH WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE WORLD LEARNS THE HEIR IS MISSING."
Julian's blood ran cold.
Because somewhere outside...
Someone had already announced that the Rossi child was born.
And someone else...
May you like
Was coming to take him.
