POLICE INVESTIGATE SUSPECTED CORRUPTION LINK

MYSTERY SURROUNDS HARRISON HOLDINGS TAKEOVER

Amara stared at the television.

Her father had not called.

Neither had Kevin.

Daniel stood across the room, speaking quietly with his security chief.

“Any cameras?”

“Yes.”

“Show me.”

The security chief handed him a tablet.

Amara watched.

Martin walked into the parking garage at 11:47 p.m.

At 11:51, another man entered.

He wore a dark cap.

His face was hidden.

At 11:56, the screen went black.

“Can you identify him?”

“No, sir.”

Daniel looked at another screen.

“Find every camera around the area.”

“Yes, sir.”

He turned.

Amara was watching him.

“You knew this would happen.”

Daniel shook his head.

“No.”

“You acted as if you expected it.”

“I expected someone to make a move.”

“Because of your first wife?”

“Because of everything.”

Amara folded her arms.

“Then stop hiding me behind locked doors and tell me what is happening.”

Daniel stared at her.

“You really want to know?”

“Yes.”

“Then come with me.”

Two hours later, Daniel walked into the headquarters of Harrison Holdings.

This time, every executive stood when he entered.

Amara followed behind him.

People whispered.

“That's his wife.”

“She married him when everyone thought he was homeless.”

“He bought the company overnight.”

“She had no idea who he was.”

Daniel ignored them.

He entered the boardroom.

“Sit.”

Everyone obeyed.

A director cleared his throat.

“Mr. Williams, the acquisition was completed legally, but the board still has concerns.”

Daniel placed a folder on the table.

“You shouldn't.”

The director opened it.

His face changed.

“What is this?”

“Your offshore accounts.”

Another board member stood.

“This is impossible.”

Daniel slid another folder toward him.

“Your transactions.”

Another.

“Your shell companies.”

Another.

“Your private agreements with Martin Cole.”

The room went silent.

Amara stared.

Daniel had not just bought the company.

He had dismantled it from the inside.

One executive rose.

“You've been investigating us.”

Daniel looked at him.

“For six months.”

Amara's eyes widened.

Six months.

That meant before their marriage.

Before their first breakfast.

Before he ever stepped into her mansion.

Daniel had already been watching her father's company.

Then Kevin walked in.

“You don't have the right.”

Daniel turned.

Kevin laughed.

“You've intimidated everyone, but you can't intimidate me.”

Daniel leaned back.

“Then speak.”

Kevin placed a document on the table.

“This proves the acquisition is fraudulent.”

Daniel didn't touch it.

“Read it.”

Amara picked it up.

It was a legal complaint.

Kevin claimed that Daniel had manipulated Harrison Holdings through forged documents.

Daniel smiled.

“You really want to do this?”

“Yes.”

“Then call your lawyer.”

Kevin did.

Within thirty minutes, three attorneys arrived.

Daniel remained perfectly calm.

The lead attorney opened the documents.

Then froze.

“What happened?”

Daniel said:

“You can read the original.”

The attorney looked at Kevin.

“These signatures are authentic.”

Kevin's face drained.

“That's impossible.”

Daniel pointed to the bottom of the last page.

“You filed a complaint using forged copies.”

Kevin stared at him.

Daniel stood.

“You tried to challenge a transaction that was more secure than your entire career.”

The room erupted in whispers.

Kevin turned toward Amara.

“He's manipulating you.”

Amara didn't answer.

“Amara, he doesn't love you.”

Daniel looked at her.

Kevin continued.

“He married you because your family has something he wants.”

Daniel's expression changed.

Amara's attention sharpened.

“What does my family have?”

Kevin smiled.

“The Harrison Foundation.”

Daniel immediately stood.

“Kevin.”

But Kevin was already speaking.

“Your father has hidden something worth billions beneath that foundation.”

Amara looked at Daniel.

“What is he talking about?”

Daniel didn't answer.

Kevin smiled.

“There it is.”

He pointed at Daniel.

“Ask him why he bought the company instead of simply destroying it.”

Daniel walked toward Kevin.

“Enough.”

Kevin stepped back.

“You already know what is hidden inside Harrison Holdings.”

Daniel's voice became quiet.

“I know.”

Amara stared at him.

“What?”

Daniel turned toward her.

“There is a ledger.”

“What ledger?”

“A ledger containing the names of every person involved in a twenty-year financial crime.”

“Your first wife found it?”

“Yes.”

“My father has it?”

“No.”

Daniel looked at her.

“He has something even more dangerous.”

“What?”

“Your signature.”

Amara's face went pale.

“My signature?”

Daniel nodded.

“Your father has been using your identity for years.”

The boardroom doors suddenly burst open.

Police officers entered.

“Daniel Williams, you're under arrest.”

Everyone froze.

Daniel looked at Amara.

The lead officer raised handcuffs.

“We have a warrant for fraud, financial manipulation, and suspected involvement in the death of Martin Cole.”

Amara stared at her husband.

And for the first time, Daniel looked genuinely afraid.

Not for himself.

For her.

“Amara,” he said quietly.

May you like

“Do not trust your father.”

Then the handcuffs closed around his wrists.
