Chapter 11 - Claire refused to answer.Victor didn't force her.

He didn't need to.

The expression on her face had already said enough.

Daniel whispered:

“What did you do?”

Claire looked at Evelyn.

“I was there.”

“That's not an answer.”

“I was there when your father died.”

Evelyn's chest tightened.

“What happened?”

Claire began to cry.

“Your father wanted to expose Victor.”

“Then why did he die?”

“He didn't know someone had betrayed him.”

“Who?”

Claire closed her eyes.

“Me.”

Silence.

Evelyn stared at her mother.

“No.”

“I gave Victor information.”

“Why?”

“To save you.”

“You keep saying that.”

“I was threatened.”

“With me.”

“Yes.”

Victor stood outside, smiling.

Claire continued.

“Your father had a file hidden in the house.”

“The same file everyone wants?”

“Yes.”

“Where?”

Claire looked toward Evelyn.

“You're standing on it.”

Evelyn looked down.

The old floor.

Her childhood home.

Her father's office.

The hidden basement.

The tape.

The truth had been under her feet all along.

Victor knocked softly on the door.

“I'd like my property back.”

Evelyn looked at him.

“Sophie isn't your property.”

Victor's smile vanished.

“She is the legal successor to an empire that belongs to me.”

“No.”

“Your father stole it.”

“My father protected it.”

Victor's eyes narrowed.

“You've become stronger.”

“I had three years to practice.”

Victor smiled again.

“That prison sentence wasn't part of my original plan.”

“You're admitting it?”

“I admit nothing.”

“Then why are you here?”

“To offer you a deal.”

Evelyn laughed.

“You're insane.”

Victor lifted a document.

“Sign this.”

“What is it?”

“Transfer of the trust.”

“And if I refuse?”

Victor looked toward Sophie.

“Then she disappears.”

Michael stepped forward.

“You won't touch her.”

Victor smiled.

“You are still pretending to be a hero.”

Michael's face hardened.

“You were never supposed to involve the child.”

“I did what was necessary.”

Daniel stepped forward.

“You destroyed my life.”

Victor glanced at him.

“You were an obstacle.”

“Why alter my DNA?”

“To make you believe Sophie was yours.”

Daniel stared.

“You needed me to protect her.”

“Yes.”

“And Michael?”

“He was disposable.”

Michael suddenly laughed.

Everyone looked at him.

Victor frowned.

Michael reached into his jacket.

“I expected you to say that.”

He pulled out a tiny recording device.

Victor's expression changed.

Michael pressed a button.

Victor's own voice echoed through the room.

“The girl is the key.”

Another recording.

“Make Evelyn look unstable.”

Another.

“Her husband must appear responsible.”

Another.

“After sentencing, transfer the assets.”

Victor's face turned white.

Daniel looked at Michael.

“You recorded him.”

“For three years.”

Victor took one step backward.

Police sirens sounded outside.

Victor's men turned.

Michael smiled.

“I sent the recordings an hour ago.”

Victor stared at him.

“You were never loyal.”

“No.”

Michael looked at Evelyn.

“I was loyal to her.”

Victor suddenly grabbed Olivia.

He pressed a gun against her head.

“Drop it.”

Michael froze.

Victor dragged Olivia toward the exit.

“Everyone stays here.”

Olivia cried.

Evelyn stepped forward.

“Victor.”

He looked at her.

“If you hurt her
”

“She betrayed me.”

Olivia screamed:

“Evelyn!”

Then she said something nobody expected.

“I know where your father's original file is!”

Victor's face changed.

Evelyn stared.

“Where?”

Olivia looked directly at Evelyn.

“In the cemetery.”

Victor's hand tightened around the gun.

“Shut up.”

Olivia smiled through her tears.

“Grave 117.”

Victor's expression changed completely.

Evelyn understood.

That was the real secret.

Not the tape.

Not the trust.

Not even the inheritance.

The original evidence had been hidden inside the cemetery.

And Victor was terrified of it.

Then the police stormed the house.

Gunfire exploded.

Victor disappeared into the chaos.

Olivia fell.

Evelyn ran toward her.

Olivia was bleeding.

But before losing consciousness, she whispered:

“Grave 117.”

Then she added:

“Your father wasn't the only person buried there.”
