CHAPTER 7: THE SON WHO WAS ERASED FROM HISTORY

The photograph lay on the marble floor.

Nobody touched it.

Nobody dared.

Because everyone in the hallway understood what it represented.

A truth that had been buried for years.

A child who had disappeared.

A family that had been torn apart.

And a war that had never actually ended.

Charles Whitmore picked up the photograph carefully.

His eyes moved over the image.

Two babies.

Two tiny hands.

Two lives that should have grown up together.

Lucy.

And Noah.

His jaw tightened.

"How..."

His voice was barely audible.

"How did he get inside?"

The security team immediately searched the entire mansion.

Every room.

Every hallway.

Every entrance.

But there was nothing.

No footprints.

No cameras showing him entering.

No evidence that anyone had been there.

It was impossible.

And Charles Whitmore hated impossible.

Because impossible usually meant someone was more powerful than he expected.

Nora stood frozen beside Lucy.

She couldn't take her eyes off the photograph.

"My daughter has a brother..."

Her voice cracked.

"All these years..."

She looked at Alexander.

"You knew?"

Alexander looked down.

"I knew there was a chance."

"A chance?"

Nora's anger rose.

"You knew I had another child out there?"

"I didn't know if he was alive."

"That doesn't answer my question."

Alexander closed his eyes.

Pain crossed his face.

"You don't understand what happened."

"Then explain."

The room became silent.

Alexander took a deep breath.

"Twenty-six years ago, I discovered something."

Charles looked at him.

"The Voss files."

Alexander nodded.

"A network of powerful people controlling companies, politicians, and industries."

Nora frowned.

"What does that have to do with children?"

Alexander looked at Lucy.

"Everything."

He continued.

"When I discovered the truth, they didn't try to kill me first."

"They tried to erase my legacy."

Nora held Lucy tighter.

"They took Noah."

Charles looked away.

The memory clearly hurt him.

"How?"

Alexander's voice became colder.

"Someone inside the Whitmore family helped them."

Everyone became silent.

Again.

That accusation.

That possibility.

A traitor among them.

Charles' expression darkened.

"Who?"

Alexander looked directly at him.

"Your brother."

The room froze.

"Richard."

Richard Whitmore.

The name had haunted Charles for years.

His younger brother.

His partner.

His family.

The man who shared his childhood.

The man who stood beside him when they built their first company.

And the man who betrayed him.

But Charles had never accepted that Richard could be capable of destroying children.

"He died."

Charles said.

Alexander shook his head.

"No."

"What?"

"He disappeared."

Charles stared.

The official story was simple.

Richard Whitmore died in a private plane accident fifteen years ago.

No body was recovered.

No investigation continued.

Everyone assumed he was gone.

But Alexander knew better.

"He was never dead."

Nora whispered:

"Then where is he?"

Alexander looked toward the dark windows.

"Closer than you think."

At that exact moment...

A man stood in a luxury apartment overlooking the city.

He watched the news.

The Whitmore scandal.

The missing heir.

The return of Alexander Voss.

Everything was happening exactly as planned.

The man smiled.

On the table beside him were photographs.

Charles.

Nora.

Lucy.

Noah.

And Daniel.

All connected.

All pieces on a board.

The door opened.

A woman entered.

"You knew Alexander would return?"

The man didn't turn around.

"Eventually."

She looked at the photographs.

"Then why allow him to come back?"

The man smiled.

"Because a family reunion is always more painful when everyone is present."

She looked uncomfortable.

"Are you sure this will work?"

The man finally turned.

His eyes were cold.

"After twenty-six years..."

"It has already worked."

Back at the mansion...

Lucy sat between Nora and Alexander.

She kept looking at him.

Like she was trying to understand how someone could be a stranger and family at the same time.

"Are you really my daddy?"

Alexander's eyes filled with emotion.

"Yes."

Lucy looked down.

"Then why weren't you there?"

The question destroyed him.

Because there was no answer that could fix twenty-six years.

"I tried."

His voice broke.

"I looked for you."

"I searched everywhere."

"But they hid you from me."

Lucy was quiet.

Then she asked:

"Did you miss me?"

Alexander covered his mouth.

A man who had survived years of danger...

Almost broke because of a child's question.

"Every single day."

Lucy looked at Nora.

Then slowly reached out.

She held Alexander's hand.

A tiny gesture.

But enough to break the wall between them.

Meanwhile...

Daniel Hale made the biggest mistake of his life.

He went looking for answers.

He tracked the private number.

He followed the signal.

And eventually...

He found the location.

An abandoned warehouse outside the city.

He entered slowly.

"Show yourself."

No answer.

He walked deeper.

"Whoever you are..."

"You used me."

A light turned on.

A man sat in the darkness.

Daniel stopped.

Because he recognized him.

"No..."

The man smiled.

"Hello, Daniel."

Daniel stepped back.

"You're dead."

The man laughed.

"No."

"I simply stopped pretending."

Daniel's face turned pale.

Because the person sitting in front of him...

Was someone he had seen at family gatherings.

Someone he trusted.

Someone close to the Whitmores.

"You..."

The man stood.

"You finally understand."

Daniel whispered:

"Why?"

The man walked closer.

"Because Charles Whitmore took something from me."

"And I have spent twenty-six years preparing his punishment."

Daniel shook his head.

"But why Lucy?"

The man's expression changed.

For the first time...

Something like hatred appeared.

"Because Lucy is the last piece."

"The last thing that can destroy everything Charles built."

Daniel swallowed.

"What are you going to do?"

The man smiled.

"I'm going to make Charles choose."

"His empire..."

"Or his granddaughter."

Back at the mansion...

Charles received an urgent call.

His security chief sounded terrified.

"Sir..."

"We found something."

Charles immediately stood.

"What?"

The man hesitated.

"Someone accessed the old Whitmore archives."

Charles' face changed.

"The archives were destroyed years ago."

"Not all of them."

A pause.

"Sir..."

"What did they take?"

The answer came quietly.

"The original birth records."

Charles froze.

"Whose?"

Another pause.

Then:

"Lucy Hale."

Charles felt the blood leave his face.

Because if someone had the original records...

They didn't just know Lucy's secret.

They could rewrite her entire identity.

A second later...

His phone received a message.

One sentence.

From the person hunting his family.

YOU SAVED THE WRONG CHILD.

Charles stared at the screen.

Then another message appeared.

NOW I'LL SHOW YOU WHY NOAH WAS THE ONE THEY SHOULD HAVE FEARED.

Charles looked toward Lucy.

May you like

And for the first time...

He wondered if protecting his granddaughter had awakened something far more dangerous.
