CHAPTER 15 — THE LAST HEIR OF THE WEAVER FAMILY

CHAPTER 15 — THE LAST HEIR OF THE WEAVER FAMILY

The room became completely silent.

Nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

Because the woman standing in the doorway was supposed to be a memory.

A photograph.

A name mentioned only in old family conversations.

Eleanor Weaver.

Thomas’s sister.

Edward Weaver’s daughter.

The woman everyone believed had disappeared years ago.

Lucas stared at her.

His mind struggled to catch up.

Another person who was supposed to be dead.

Another secret buried inside the Weaver family.

Another impossible return.

Finally, Thomas whispered:

“Eleanor?”

The woman looked at him.

A sad smile appeared.

“Yes, Thomas.”

“You’re alive.”

She nodded.

“So are you.”

The irony of those words filled the room.

Two siblings.

Both hidden from the world.

Both carrying secrets.

Both believed to be gone.

Lucas stepped forward.

“Someone explain.”

His voice was calm.

But everyone could hear the exhaustion behind it.

“I am done discovering pieces of my own family like buried weapons.”

Eleanor looked at him.

And for the first time, Lucas saw something unexpected.

Pain.

Not guilt.

Not arrogance.

Pain.

“You have your father’s eyes.”

Lucas immediately became defensive.

“Don’t do that.”

“Do what?”

“Act like you know me.”

Eleanor lowered her head.

“You’re right.”

“I don’t.”

“But I knew the child you were.”

Lucas looked away.

“That child lost his father.”

Eleanor looked at Thomas.

“And that child was lied to.”

Thomas stepped forward.

“Eleanor.”

“Why are you here?”

She held up the folder.

“Because this ends tonight.”

She placed it on the table.

“The final evidence.”

Lucas looked at the folder.

“The evidence of what?”

Eleanor answered:

“The truth about Thomas’s disappearance.”

Everyone became silent.

Lucas looked at his father.

Thomas looked confused.

“I thought we already knew.”

Eleanor shook her head.

“No.”

“You know what happened afterward.”

“You don’t know what happened before.”

She opened the folder.

Inside were photographs.

Documents.

Old recordings.

And one name appeared again.

Martin Caldwell.

“Martin was not just trying to steal the Weaver fortune,” Eleanor explained.

“He was trying to erase the entire family.”

Lucas frowned.

“Why?”

“Because he believed the Weaver family destroyed his life.”

Thomas shook his head.

“That doesn’t make sense.”

Eleanor looked at him.

“It started with our father.”

“Edward.”

“Yes.”

She looked at Lucas.

“Your grandfather made a decision twenty-five years ago.”

“What decision?”

“He removed Martin’s father from the company.”

Lucas looked confused.

“Why?”

“Because he discovered corruption.”

Henry slowly nodded.

“I remember.”

Eleanor continued.

“But Martin never believed that.”

“He believed Edward betrayed his family.”

“He believed the Caldwell family deserved the Weaver empire.”

Lucas looked at the documents.

“So this entire revenge started because of something that happened decades ago?”

“Yes.”

“But revenge alone wasn’t enough.”

“What did he need?”

Eleanor answered:

“An heir.”

Lucas froze.

The room became colder.

Thomas looked at Eleanor.

“What are you saying?”

Eleanor looked at Lucas.

“I’m saying Martin needed someone close enough to destroy the family from inside.”

Lucas immediately thought of Gwendolyn.

But Eleanor shook her head.

“No.”

“She was only one piece.”

Lucas frowned.

“Then who?”

Eleanor looked at Thomas.

“Someone you never suspected.”

Thomas’s face changed.

“Who?”

Eleanor opened the final document.

A birth record.

Lucas looked at it.

Then his entire body froze.

Because the name on the paper was impossible.

Lucas Weaver.

But beneath it...

A handwritten note.

A note explaining something hidden for twenty years.

Lucas looked at his mother.

“Mom?”

Florence’s eyes filled with tears.

She already knew.

Lucas turned slowly.

“What is this?”

Nobody answered.

His voice became louder.

“What is this?”

Florence finally spoke.

“Lucas…”

“No.”

“Tell me.”

She closed her eyes.

“Your father wasn’t the only person who was hiding something.”

Thomas looked at her.

“Florence…”

She looked at him.

“We promised we would never tell him unless we had no choice.”

Lucas stared.

“Tell me what?”

Florence took a deep breath.

“Your grandfather had another child.”

Lucas frowned.

“What?”

“Before your father.”

“Before Thomas.”

A long pause.

“And that child was hidden.”

Lucas looked at Eleanor.

Then Thomas.

“Who?”

Eleanor answered quietly:

“Me.”

Lucas froze.

“That makes no sense.”

“I thought Eleanor was your sister.”

Thomas nodded.

“She was.”

“Then why is this secret?”

Eleanor looked down.

“Because Edward Weaver erased me from the family.”

Lucas felt overwhelmed.

Every answer created another question.

“Why?”

Eleanor’s expression became painful.

“Because I discovered what my father was doing.”

“What was he doing?”

“Creating a system where the Weaver family would always fight.”

Lucas frowned.

“A system?”

“Yes.”

“The inheritance.”

“The companies.”

“The contracts.”

“Everything.”

She looked at the hidden documents.

“Your grandfather believed controlling everything would protect the family.”

“But instead, he created a prison.”

Thomas looked at Eleanor.

“You knew about the vault?”

“Yes.”

“You knew about the documents?”

“Yes.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

Eleanor looked at him.

“Because I saw what happened when people learned about the fortune.”

“Richard changed.”

“Martin changed.”

“Even our father changed.”

She looked at Lucas.

“And I was afraid you would become the next person destroyed by it.”

Lucas was silent.

Because he understood.

The fortune was not a treasure.

It was poison disguised as gold.

Then Eleanor revealed the final truth.

“The money Martin was chasing was never hidden in the vault.”

Lucas looked at her.

“Then what was?”

“The ownership documents.”

“Of what?”

She looked at him.

“Everything.”

“The companies.”

“The properties.”

“The investments.”

“Even the hidden accounts.”

Lucas realized.

“So whoever controls those documents controls the entire Weaver empire.”

Eleanor nodded.

“Yes.”

Thomas looked at the folder.

“Then Martin still needs them.”

“Yes.”

“And he doesn’t have them.”

“No.”

Lucas frowned.

“Then why hasn’t he given up?”

Eleanor looked at him.

“Because he knows something.”

“What?”

She slowly pointed at Lucas.

“He knows the documents cannot be activated without the final heir.”

Lucas’s face changed.

“The final heir?”

Eleanor nodded.

“You.”

The room fell silent.

Lucas looked at Thomas.

“Me?”

Thomas nodded slowly.

“Your grandfather created one final condition.”

“What condition?”

Eleanor answered:

“The Weaver fortune cannot belong to anyone who seeks power.”

“It can only be transferred to someone who chooses family over wealth.”

Lucas laughed quietly.

“So all of this…”

“Everyone hurt my mother.”

“Everyone betrayed each other.”

“Because of documents that don’t even matter unless I choose?”

Eleanor nodded.

“Yes.”

Lucas looked toward the hidden room.

The room full of secrets.

The room full of pain.

Then he understood.

The entire family had been fighting over a door.

But nobody realized the door could only open if someone stopped fighting.

Suddenly, Thomas’s phone rang.

Unknown number.

He answered.

A voice came through.

A voice everyone recognized.

Martin Caldwell.

“Thomas.”

Everyone froze.

Martin continued:

“You finally found Eleanor.”

Thomas looked angry.

“Where are you?”

Martin laughed softly.

“Where this all began.”

Lucas stepped closer.

“Martin.”

The voice changed.

“Lucas.”

“You finally understand.”

“Understand what?”

“That your family was never destroyed by enemies.”

A pause.

“It was destroyed by itself.”

Lucas gripped the phone.

“Where is my mother’s house key?”

Silence.

Then Martin answered:

“You’re asking the wrong question.”

“What should I ask?”

Martin’s voice became colder.

“Ask why your grandfather chose you.”

Lucas froze.

“What?”

The call ended.

Immediately, a message appeared.

A photo.

A photograph of a hidden room beneath the Weaver estate.

But someone was standing inside.

Holding the original inheritance documents.

And beneath the picture was one sentence:

“Come alone, Lucas. The truth about your birth is waiting.”

Lucas stared at the screen.

Because now he understood.

The final battle was not about money.

Not about property.

Not about revenge.

It was about the last secret the Weaver family had hidden.

May you like

The secret of Lucas himself.
