Chapter 14 - The Fall of the Vance FamilyThe boardroom was in chaos.

Julian's attorneys were arguing.

Vivienne's allies demanded my removal.

The chairman kept checking his phone.

Then the doors opened.

I walked in carrying Elena.

The room fell silent.

“Continue,” I said.

Nobody spoke.

I placed the document on the table.

The chairman picked it up.

He read.

Then read it again.

His face went white.

“What is this?”

“The final control agreement.”

“It can't be.”

“It was executed years ago.”

“By whom?”

I looked at him.

“My father.”

A board member laughed nervously.

“Your father is dead.”

I smiled.

“No.”

The room froze.

I leaned forward.

“He's alive.”

The doors behind me closed.

Khloe entered.

Then Julian.

Then Mia.

Finally, Ethan's testimony appeared on the screen.

The board watched everything.

The shell companies.

The forged signatures.

The hospital theft.

The fake DNA report.

The kidnapping attempt.

Vivienne's instructions.

One by one, the family empire cracked.

The chairman turned toward Julian.

“Did you participate?”

Julian stood.

“Yes.”

My heart tightened.

He continued.

“I knew about the trust.”

“I manipulated Clare.”

“I allowed Mia to believe she would become my wife.”

“I helped hide Lucas.”

“But I did not order the attack.”

Vivienne's attorney tried to object.

Then Ethan's recording played.

Vivienne's voice filled the room.

“Once Clare is removed, the baby can be isolated.”

The board members stared at one another.

One asked:

“And after that?”

Vivienne answered:

“She'll surrender.”

Another recording.

“Julian doesn't need to know.”

Another.

“Men are easier to control when they think they're choosing.”

Julian closed his eyes.

He finally understood.

His mother had used him too.

When the recording ended, silence filled the room.

I held Elena closer.

The chairman looked at me.

“Mrs. Vance, under the control agreement, what are your instructions?”

I looked around the room.

Then I spoke.

“Remove Vivienne Vance from every company position.”

Done.

“Remove Ethan Vance.”

Done.

“Freeze every shell company identified in the investigation.”

Done.

“Commission a forensic audit covering fifteen years.”

Done.

“And Julian?”

The room waited.

I looked at my husband.

For a moment, I remembered the hospital.

His suit.

His cold eyes.

His words.

The Vance family needs a male heir.

I swallowed.

“Julian resigns as CEO.”

His face tightened.

But he nodded.

“Agreed.”

Then the chairman asked the question that mattered.

“What about the trust?”

I looked at my daughter.

“Elena remains protected.”

The board members exchanged uneasy looks.

“Until she is an adult?”

“No.”

I smiled.

“She doesn't need to wait.”

The final control agreement gave me authority to appoint an independent holding structure for her shares.

I signed it.

The Vance empire had just changed hands.

Not to Julian.

Not to Mia.

Not to Ethan.

To a newborn who couldn't hold her own head up.

The irony was almost beautiful.

Then the doors opened.

A police officer entered.

“Mrs. Vance.”

“Yes?”

“We've arrested Vivienne Vance.”

I nodded.

He hesitated.

“There is one issue.”

“What?”

“She requested to speak with you privately.”

I almost refused.

Then I agreed.

Vivienne sat in the interrogation room.

No jewelry.

No perfect hair.

No family throne.

Just an old woman in a gray chair.

“You won,” she said.

“No.”

I sat across from her.

“You lost.”

She laughed.

“You think this ends here?”

“I know it doesn't.”

She smiled.

“You still don't understand why your father disappeared.”

“I know enough.”

She leaned toward me.

“Then ask him about the second child.”

My blood went cold.

“What second child?”

Vivienne smiled.

“The one he never told you about.”

The door opened.

An officer stepped in.

“Mrs. Vance, you need to leave.”

I stood.

Vivienne called after me.

“Clare.”

I turned.

May you like

She whispered:

“Your family tree is missing someone.”
