Chapter 7 - THE RECORDINGI returned to the estate.

The house was empty.
I found the security system restored.
Every camera worked.
Too perfectly.
Then I opened the USB.
A video appeared.
My father.
Sitting behind his desk.
He looked directly at the camera.
“Vincent, if you're watching this, someone has probably already told you Adrian is alive.”
He paused.
“You will want to trust him.”
Another pause.
“Don't.”
The video shifted.
My father looked terrified.
“Adrian is not the man he was.”
The screen changed again.
Adrian appeared.
He was younger.
Standing beside Tony.
Then beside Marcus.
Then beside Elena.
All connected.
I watched in silence.
A final image appeared.
A woman.
My mother.
She was alive.
And standing beside her was someone I recognized.
My current lawyer.
Richard Hale.
The video ended.
My phone rang.
Richard.
I answered.
His voice was calm.
“Vincent, come to the old family warehouse.”
“Why?”
“Because your mother wants to see you.”
I nearly dropped the phone.
“My mother is dead.”
May you like
Richard whispered:
“She was never dead.”
