Daniel had finished it.
The men in my house weren't there for money.
They wanted the Black Ledger.
Because whoever controlled it controlled half of Manhattan's underworld.
Daniel captured Elena.
He sent a video.
She was tied to a chair.
Daniel stood behind her.
“Bring me the ledger.”
I stared at the screen.
“What happens if I don't?”
He smiled.
“You already know.”
Marcus stepped forward.
“No.”
He turned to me.
“Don't give him the ledger.”
“What do you suggest?”
“We give him me.”
I stared at Marcus.
“What?”
“I know where he keeps Elena.”
He walked out.
I followed.
But Adrian stopped me.
“You can't trust Marcus.”
“He saved me.”
“He's been hiding something.”
“What?”
Adrian looked at me.
“Marcus is the one who killed your father.”
I froze.
Then Marcus's voice came through the phone.
