Chapter 15 - THE MAN IN THE CLOSETThe emergency lights came on.

Every door locked simultaneously.

Elena grabbed a gun.

Marcus pulled me from the bed.

The hallway outside filled with armed men.

Then the hospital announcement system activated.

My twin's voice echoed through the building.

“Vincent.”

I stared at the speaker.

“You spent your whole life believing you were the heir.”

He laughed.

“You were never the heir.”

The walls shook.

“Your father didn't build the empire for you.”

A pause.

“He built it for me.”

Adrian appeared at the end of the hallway.

Bloody.

Weak.

But alive.

He looked at me.

“Run.”

We moved.

Behind us, gunfire erupted.

We escaped through the basement.

Outside, rain hammered the street.

For the first time in twenty years, the Moretti estate stood empty.

But the danger wasn't over.

We returned to the mansion at dawn.

Elena followed me inside.

The house was silent again.

Too silent.

I walked upstairs.

Into my bedroom.

Everything looked exactly as it had on that first night.

The dead alarm.

The open door.

The closet.

I approached it.

Elena whispered:

“Don't.”

I opened the closet.

Nothing.

Then I noticed something taped beneath the shelf.

A small envelope.

My name was written on it.

VINCENT

I opened it.

Inside was a single photograph.

Me.

Standing beside my twin.

But the photograph was dated yesterday.

On the back were six words:

YOU STILL HAVEN'T FOUND MY BODY.

I slowly looked toward the bedroom mirror.

A reflection appeared behind me.

My twin.

He smiled.

And whispered:

“Welcome home, brother.”

May you like

Then the closet door slammed shut.

END.
