Chapter 5 - THE MAN BEHIND TONYMarcus wasn't dead.

The bullet had grazed his shoulder.

We dragged him into an abandoned chapel.

He refused to speak.

Until I put the gun against his forehead.

“Enough.”

His eyes met mine.

“You really think I'm the enemy?”

“You broke into my house.”

“To get the ledger.”

“You sent armed men.”

“To keep you alive.”

“You threatened Elena.”

His expression changed.

“I never threatened Elena.”

He looked at her.

“She is the one person everyone should be afraid of.”

Elena went pale.

I stared at her.

“What does that mean?”

Marcus laughed bitterly.

“Ask her where she came from.”

I turned.

Elena said nothing.

“Who are you?”

She finally answered.

“My name isn't Elena Cruz.”

Silence.

“My real name is Sofia Moretti.”

I stopped breathing.

My brother's daughter.

Adrian had a daughter?

No.

Impossible.

Marcus continued.

“She was hidden after Adrian disappeared.”

Elena lowered her eyes.

“He gave me one job.”

“What job?”

“To find you.”

“Why?”

“Because you were the only person he trusted.”

Marcus suddenly leaned forward.

“He was wrong.”

The chapel doors opened.

Tony stood there.

Alive.

Marcus stared at him in shock.

“You're dead.”

Tony smiled.

“I've been dead for twenty years.”

He raised a gun.

“The Morettis always did love funerals.”

Then the lights went out.
