Chapter 9: The Mother Who Never Died

Nobody moved.
Nobody even dared to breathe.
Because the impossible had happened again.
The dead had returned.
First, Amina.
Then Elias.
Now...
Nadia Rahman.
The woman whose death had shaped an entire family's history.
The woman whose funeral had happened eight years ago.
The woman everyone believed had been killed in a tragic accident.
Standing alive in front of them.
Emily looked around.
She wanted someone to say this was a trick.
A hallucination.
A lie.
But nobody did.
Because everyone in that station knew the same thing.
The truth was far stranger than any lie.
Adam stared at the woman.
His lips trembled.
"Mom..."
The word came out like a child calling for someone who disappeared too long ago.
Nadia looked at him.
But there was no warmth in her eyes.
Only sadness.
"You shouldn't have come back, Adam."
His face collapsed.
"Back?"
A bitter smile appeared on her lips.
"You never left the past."
Emily watched carefully.
Something was wrong.
This wasn't a mother seeing her son after years.
This was a woman seeing someone who reminded her of a painful mistake.
Daniel stepped forward.
For the first time since Emily had met him...
He looked afraid.
"Nadia."
The woman's eyes moved toward him.
"Still using that name?"
Daniel froze.
Emily noticed.
He looked smaller.
Less powerful.
Like someone standing before the person who truly controlled him.
"You said she was dead."
Nadia smiled coldly.
"And you believed me."
The Circle members behind Daniel shifted nervously.
Emily understood.
Daniel wasn't the leader.
He was just another piece on the board.
A dangerous piece.
But still a piece.
Marcus whispered:
"The Circle..."
Nadia looked at him.
"You remember."
Marcus lowered his weapon.
"You were the founder."
Emily looked at him.
"What?"
Marcus looked uncomfortable.
"Nadia created the Circle."
The words shocked everyone.
Daniel laughed quietly.
"Now you see why nobody ever found the truth."
Emily looked at Nadia.
"You created all of this?"
Nadia didn't deny it.
"Yes."
Adam stepped forward.
"Why?"
His voice was broken.
"Why did you let us believe you were dead?"
Nadia looked at her son.
"Because the moment everyone believed I was gone..."
She looked at Daniel.
"...the people hunting me stopped looking."
Emily felt a chill.
"So you planned your own death."
"Yes."
"Why?"
Nadia's eyes darkened.
"Because I discovered what my husband had built."
Adam froze.
"My father?"
Nadia nodded.
"Your father wasn't just a businessman."
She looked at the group.
"He created a network."
Daniel interrupted.
"The Circle."
Nadia nodded.
"At first, it was supposed to protect powerful families."
Emily frowned.
"Protect them from what?"
Nadia looked at her.
"From consequences."
The answer was chilling.
"They covered scandals. Erased crimes. Changed identities."
She looked at Daniel.
"They created monsters and then protected them."
Daniel's expression hardened.
"And you joined us."
Nadia's eyes became cold.
"I joined to destroy you."
Silence.
Emily looked at Daniel.
"So why are you helping him?"
Nadia answered:
"Because Daniel is the only person who can lead me to the real enemy."
Everyone became quiet.
"The real enemy?"
Nadia nodded.
"The person who controls the Circle now."
Marcus looked confused.
"Impossible."
Nadia looked at him.
"You thought Daniel was at the top?"
A small smile appeared.
"He was never even close."
Emily felt a growing sense of dread.
Every answer created another question.
"Then who is?"
Nadia looked toward the phone still showing Amina's frozen video.
"The person who planned this entire wedding."
A pause.
"The person who replaced the bride."
Emily felt her stomach drop.
"But Sara?"
Nadia looked at her.
"No."
She shook her head.
"Sara was never the replacement."
Emily frowned.
"Then who was?"
Nadia looked directly at Daniel.
"Tell them."
Daniel remained silent.
Nadia's voice became sharper.
"Tell them who walked down that aisle."
Everyone looked at Daniel.
For several seconds, he said nothing.
Then...
He laughed.
Not a nervous laugh.
A tired laugh.
Like someone who had finally stopped pretending.
"You really want them to know?"
Nadia didn't answer.
Daniel looked at Emily.
"The woman who died at my wedding..."
He paused.
"Was not Sara."
Emily's heart raced.
"Then who?"
Daniel looked at Adam.
Then at the phone.
Then finally at Nadia.
"The woman wearing Amina's wedding dress..."
His voice lowered.
"Was Amina herself."
The world stopped.
Adam stepped back.
"No."
Daniel continued:
"Your sister wasn't kidnapped."
He looked at Emily.
"She wasn't replaced."
A pause.
"She was the bride."
Emily stared.
"But the body..."
Daniel smiled.
"That was the trick."
The station fell silent.
Emily's mind struggled to understand.
"If Amina was the bride..."
"Then whose body was in the morgue?"
Daniel answered:
"The woman Amina wanted everyone to think was dead."
Emily whispered:
"Who?"
Daniel looked at Nadia.
And said:
May you like
"Her own mother."
