Chapter 8 - The Child Inside AloraAlora carried a secret she wasn't ready to reveal.Damian stared at Alora.

Pregnant.

The word echoed in his mind.

He wanted joy.

He wanted to hold her.

But fear came first.

"Is it true?"

Alora's eyes filled with tears.

"I wasn't certain."

"When did you know?"

"Yesterday."

She had found out from her pulse.

A healer knows her own body.

But she hadn't known how to tell Damian while Finn was missing.

Kael laughed.

"Congratulations."

Damian's wolf growled.

"You will not touch her."

"I don't need to."

Kael's gaze shifted toward the forest.

"Finn already belongs to me."

Damian attacked.

Kael blocked him.

Their wolves collided.

The courtyard erupted.

Alora was escorted inside.

Serafina followed her.

"Listen to me."

Alora turned.

"I don't trust you."

"You shouldn't."

"Then why are you here?"

"To stop my brother."

Serafina lowered her voice.

"Kael wants the silver-eyed bloodline because he believes Finn can awaken the Moonbound."

"What does he need my child for?"

"He believes the child you carry will complete the bloodline."

Alora's hands trembled.

"So both children..."

"Are keys."

A terrible realization struck.

The prophecy had been misunderstood.

The silver-eyed heir was not the final power.

He was only half.

The true mate's child would awaken something greater.

Outside, Damian roared.

Then everything went silent.

Alora ran to the window.

Damian stood alone.

Kael had disappeared.

So had Serafina.

Then she saw the message carved into the castle wall.

BRING ALORA TO THE OLD MOON TEMPLE. ALONE. OR FINN DIES.

Damian read it.

"No."

Alora looked at him.

"I have to go."

"I am not letting you."

"If you don't, Finn dies."

Damian shook his head.

"That's exactly what they want."

Alora touched his cheek.

"We can save him."

"We."

The word destroyed his resistance.

Damian pulled her close.

"I already lost one family once."

Alora whispered:

"You didn't lose me."

He kissed her forehead.

Then someone screamed.

The underground gate had opened.

A hooded figure entered.

Damian drew his weapon.

The figure removed the hood.

It was an old woman.

Alora stopped breathing.

She knew that face.

She had seen it in the only picture her grandmother kept hidden.

Her mother.

Alive.

Her mother stepped forward.

"Alora."

Alora couldn't speak.

The woman looked at Damian.

"Your Highness."

Damian stared.

"What is your name?"

The woman answered:

"Elena Wynn."

Then she looked at Alora's stomach.

May you like

And whispered:

"My daughter, you must leave this kingdom before your child is born."
