CHAPTER 11: THE NAME WRITTEN IN BLOOD

The message remained on the stage.

Three words.

Three words that silenced an entire room.

FIND ISABELLA’S KILLER.

Nobody breathed.

Nobody moved.

The cameras that had been recording the gala were still pointed toward the stage.

Millions of people watching online had just witnessed something impossible.

A woman who was supposed to be dead had returned.

A family empire had collapsed in front of the world.

And now...

Someone was being accused of murder.

Not a business crime.

Not a financial crime.

Murder.

I looked at my mother.

Isabella.

She looked at the words on the stage with an expression I couldn’t understand.

Not surprise.

Not fear.

Pain.

Deep, endless pain.

Because she knew something.

Something everyone else didn’t.

“Mom?”

The word felt strange.

I had never said it before.

Not to her.

Not in my entire life.

Her eyes immediately filled with tears.

For a moment, the powerful woman who had survived twenty years of hiding disappeared.

And all I saw was a mother looking at her daughter.

“I’m sorry.”

Those were the first words she said.

Two simple words.

But they carried twenty years of silence.

Twenty years of missing birthdays.

Missing conversations.

Missing moments.

I wanted to ask everything.

Why did you leave?

Why didn’t you come back?

Why did you let me believe you abandoned me?

But before I could speak...

Vanessa stepped forward.

Her eyes were still fixed on the stage.

“Someone killed Isabella?”

The question sounded strange coming from her.

Because only an hour ago, she believed Isabella was part of a family secret.

Now she was standing beside her.

Trying to protect her.

My mother looked at Vanessa.

And something passed between them.

Something complicated.

Because they weren’t just two women connected by the Hart family.

They were sisters.

Separated by lies.

“I thought she was dead.”

Vanessa whispered.

Isabella looked at her.

“I know.”

A painful silence.

“I’m sorry.”

Vanessa laughed quietly.

But there was sadness in it.

“Everyone keeps saying sorry.”

She looked around.

“My whole life was built on things that weren’t true.”

Her voice cracked.

“I hated someone who was protecting me.”

I watched Vanessa carefully.

The woman who destroyed my dress.

The woman who tried to steal my necklace.

The woman who spent years trying to prove she deserved the Hart name.

Now she looked completely broken.

And strangely...

I understood.

Because Vanessa was a victim of the same lies.

Just in a different way.

Suddenly, Mr. Bellamy moved toward the stage.

His face was pale.

“Eleanor knew this would happen.”

I turned.

“What do you mean?”

He looked at the black screen.

“The recording wasn’t meant to reveal the betrayal.”

He pointed at the message.

“It was meant to force the killer to react.”

My eyes narrowed.

“Why?”

“Because Eleanor knew whoever was responsible would be afraid of one thing.”

“What?”

Mr. Bellamy looked at the pink diamond necklace.

“The truth coming out.”

I touched the necklace.

The hidden evidence.

The secret my family had fought over for decades.

Then I noticed something.

The necklace felt different.

A tiny movement.

A small click.

My breath stopped.

“Wait.”

Everyone looked at me.

I carefully removed the necklace.

The diamond setting had changed.

A small section beneath the pink stone had opened.

Inside was something hidden.

Not a document.

Not a recording.

A tiny piece of metal.

An old memory chip.

Everyone stared.

Richard stepped forward.

“That wasn’t there before.”

Mr. Bellamy looked shocked.

“Impossible.”

I looked at him.

“You knew about the hidden mark.”

He nodded.

“But not this.”

Vanessa stared.

“So what is it?”

Nobody answered.

Because suddenly...

The gala’s security system activated.

A red light flashed above the entrance.

Then a voice echoed through the speakers.

“Attention. The building is under emergency lockdown.”

The guests panicked.

People started moving toward the exits.

But the doors did not open.

Locked.

My heart started racing.

“What’s happening?”

Mr. Bellamy looked toward the security cameras.

Then his face changed.

“Oh no.”

“What?”

He pointed upward.

The security screens turned on.

A live feed appeared.

Victoria.

She was inside the building.

Not outside.

Not gone.

Inside.

She was sitting in a private office above the ballroom.

Watching everything.

And beside her...

Was Daniel Cross.

My lawyer.

The man who claimed he wanted to protect me.

My stomach dropped.

“No.”

Vanessa whispered.

Daniel looked directly into the camera.

Then he spoke.

“Good evening.”

His voice echoed throughout the building.

“I apologize for the inconvenience.”

Everyone stared.

Because the man who had seemed like the calm professional was now controlling the entire building.

“I think it’s time we stop pretending this is about inheritance.”

The screen changed.

Old documents appeared.

Photos.

Bank records.

Private files.

Daniel continued.

“This family has spent twenty years hiding the truth.”

He looked at me.

“And tonight, the truth will finally come out.”

Victoria leaned closer to him.

Smiling.

I felt betrayed.

Not because Daniel turned against me.

But because suddenly I understood.

He had never been protecting me.

He had been waiting.

Waiting for me to find everything.

Waiting for me to gather every secret in one place.

So he could take it all.

Daniel lifted a small folder.

“The original Hart records.”

He smiled.

“The evidence everyone has been searching for.”

My mother’s face changed.

“What does he have?”

Daniel answered before she could.

“The complete history of Hart Jewelry.”

A pause.

“Every crime.”

“Every betrayal.”

“Every person involved.”

The room went silent.

Then Daniel said:

“And the name of Isabella’s killer.”

Everyone froze.

My heart stopped.

Because this was what Victoria wanted.

This was what she had been preparing.

A final reveal.

Daniel opened the folder.

“Twenty years ago…”

The lights dimmed.

“Isabella Hart was not attacked by a stranger.”

A pause.

“She was betrayed by someone she trusted.”

The screen displayed a name.

But before anyone could read it...

The power suddenly cut out.

Complete darkness.

A scream came from the crowd.

Then a single sound.

A gunshot.

Everyone froze.

When emergency lights turned on...

Daniel was gone.

Victoria was gone.

And lying on the floor near the stage...

Was Mr. Bellamy.

Blood on his shirt.

Still conscious.

Barely breathing.

In his hand was a piece of paper.

I ran toward him.

“Who did this?”

His eyes struggled to focus.

He grabbed my hand.

And whispered:

“Your grandmother…”

A pause.

“Was wrong.”

My heart stopped.

“What?”

His fingers tightened weakly.

“The heir…”

He looked at the necklace.

“…was never supposed to be you.”

The room went silent.

Then he said the final words before losing consciousness:

“She chose you because she knew…”

A breath.

May you like

“…you were the only person who could stop yourself.”
