Chapter 14 - Sunrise ProtocolThe room erupted into chaos.

Victor attacked the nearest control panel.
Nothing.
Frank searched for a manual override.
Nothing.
Mara rushed toward Richard.
The glass wall separated them.
"You'll destroy everything."
Richard shook his head.
"I'll perfect it."
Elias looked at Noah.
"Listen to me."
Noah's hands were shaking.
"I can't do this."
"You can."
"I don't want to."
"Neither did I."
Elias knelt.
"When I created you, I thought intelligence was the answer."
He smiled sadly.
"I was wrong."
Noah looked at him.
"What is the answer?"
Elias pointed toward Adrian.
"Choice."
Adrian stepped closer.
"Your father is right."
Noah shook his head.
"They made me for this."
"No."
Adrian placed a hand on his shoulder.
"They made a system."
"You are a person."
Noah looked at him.
"Then why can I hear it?"
Adrian didn't answer.
Because he had finally understood.
Noah wasn't controlling the machine.
The machine was asking him to help define what human choice meant.
The final challenge wasn't mechanical.
It was moral.
The system would learn from whatever Noah selected.
If he chose control, it would become control.
If he chose freedom, it would learn freedom.
But freedom meant accepting uncertainty.
Risk.
Pain.
Mistakes.
Everything Richard had spent his life trying to eliminate.
Adrian walked toward the control console.
"Can you connect me too?"
Noah stared.
"Why?"
"Because the system already recognizes my DNA."
Elias's eyes widened.
"Adrian, don't."
"I have to."
Mara looked at him.
"You could get trapped."
Adrian smiled.
"Apparently I've had worse family reunions."
He placed his hand on the interface.
The system activated.
Blue light traveled through his arm.
His vision blurred.
Suddenly he was somewhere else.
Not a room.
A memory.
He saw himself as a child.
His father standing beside him.
Then another memory.
Elias and Adrian working on the first engine.
Then Mara holding baby Noah.
Then the accident.
Then the betrayal.
Then a moment Adrian had never seen.
His father standing over Elias.
A gun in his hand.
Adrian's father said:
"Give me the access code."
Elias refused.
Then another figure entered.
Richard Vale.
But the machine changed the memory.
The face wasn't Richard.
It was someone else.
Adrian's father lowered the weapon.
He wasn't the one who had ordered the attack.
He had been trying to stop it.
The real mastermind stood behind him.
Adrian recognized the face.
He almost couldn't breathe.
Mara.
Older footage.
Mara had secretly handed the system's blueprint to Helix.
She had created the entire conflict.
Adrian ripped his hand away.
"No."
The system displayed:
TRUTH ACCEPTED.
Mara froze.
"What did you see?"
Adrian looked at her.
"The truth."
Her face collapsed.
Elias stared at her.
"Mara."
She began crying.
"I had no choice."
"You always say that."
"They were going to kill Noah."
"So you betrayed us?"
"I saved him."
Adrian's voice hardened.
"You created the machine's war."
Mara shook her head.
"I thought I could control it."
Richard laughed.
"You all thought you could control it."
He activated the launch sequence.
SUNRISE PROTOCOL: 90 SECONDS
The core began spinning.
The entire facility shook.
Noah screamed.
The machine was forcing data into his mind.
Adrian grabbed him.
"Look at me."
Noah struggled to breathe.
"There are too many."
"What?"
"Every possible future."
Adrian held his face.
"Then don't choose a future."
Noah stared.
"What?"
"Choose a rule."
The boy understood.
He closed his eyes.
The machine demanded a final instruction.
Noah whispered:
"No human being can be forced to follow a prediction."
The system paused.
Adrian watched the countdown.
60 seconds.
"No algorithm can remove uncertainty."
The core slowed.
40 seconds.
"And no machine gets to decide who deserves to live."
The entire facility went silent.
The machine displayed one final prompt.
ACCEPT?
Noah looked at his father.
Elias nodded.
Noah said:
"Yes."
The system shut down.
Every light went black.
The silence was enormous.
Then the power returned.
But this time, something was different.
The machine did not restart.
Richard stared.
"What did you do?"
Noah looked at him.
"I made you irrelevant."
Richard's face twisted.
He reached for a weapon.
Adrian tackled him.
They crashed into the floor.
Mara screamed.
The guards rushed in.
Then every door opened.
Police flooded the facility.
Victor stared.
"Who called them?"
Adrian looked at the central screen.
One message remained.
EVIDENCE TRANSMITTED.
Noah had sent everything to the outside world.
The Helix network.
The financial records.
The names.
The experiments.
The crimes.
All of it.
Richard was dragged away.
Mara surrendered.
Elias stood beside Noah.
For the first time in years, the family stood together.
Then the main screen flickered one last time.
A file opened automatically.
Adrian's face went pale.
"No."
Elias turned.
"What?"
The file title was:
PROJECT NOAH: PHASE TWO.
Noah stared.
His face went white.
"I thought there was only one."
Elias whispered,
"There was."
May you like
A new message appeared.
PHASE TWO IS ALREADY ACTIVE.
