Chapter 12 - The Sister in the HospitalThe Family Had Been Hiding More Than One Life

Emily Carter had been in a private hospital room for eight years.
She had been injured in an accident.
But the hospital records had been sealed.
Margaret had paid every bill.
Rachel was stunned.
"Why would she do that?"
Elias answered:
"Because Emily saw something."
They visited the hospital under police protection.
Emily was awake.
Weak, but conscious.
When Clara entered, Emily stared at her.
"You work for Margaret."
"I used to."
Emily smiled faintly.
"You survived."
Clara felt a chill.
"Survived what?"
Emily explained.
Eight years earlier, she had been investigating money transfers linked to Margaret.
She had followed a man from the mansion.
She saw him exchange a package.
Then someone ran her car off the road.
The package contained financial records.
Emily had hidden copies.
She had told Rachel.
Rachel then disappeared.
Margaret had taken control.
Clara asked:
"What does this have to do with the emerald?"
Emily looked directly at her.
"The emerald was a storage key."
Daniel leaned closer.
"Storage key for what?"
"Every illegal transfer Margaret made."
The microfilm was only a piece.
The real evidence was stored digitally.
Emily knew where.
She gave Clara a location.
An abandoned train station outside the city.
There was a locker.
Locker 317.
Inside was a laptop.
No password.
Just one folder.
THE HAMILTON FILE
Daniel opened it.
There were hundreds of files.
Bribes.
Secret acquisitions.
Fraudulent trusts.
Forged identities.
Payments to officials.
But the most shocking file carried Adam's name.
Clara opened it.
It showed Margaret had created a secret account in Adam's name when he was nineteen.
She had used it to move illegal money.
Adam had been the legal owner.
Meaning if everything were exposed, Adam could be blamed.
That explained why he had been afraid.
Margaret had spent decades building a trap around her son.
Then came the final file.
RACHEL DEATH CERTIFICATE
It was forged.
Rachel had never died.
The document had been created the day after Idan was born.
Clara looked at Rachel.
"She stole your identity."
Rachel nodded slowly.
"But why?"
Emily answered.
"Because Rachel was supposed to inherit everything."
Clara understood.
Margaret could not take the empire while Rachel was alive.
So she erased her.
Then controlled Adam.
Then controlled Idan.
Then waited for the trust to mature.
Everything was connected.
The necklace.
The hidden room.
The forged confession.
Clara.
The fake identity.
The missing money.
The hospital.
The child.
All of it.
Daniel closed the laptop.
"We have enough to destroy her."
Clara shook her head.
"Not yet."
"Why?"
"Because Margaret is still free."
A phone rang.
It was the police.
They had found Margaret.
She was inside the Hamilton mansion.
But she had locked herself inside the hidden room.
And she had one hostage.
Idan.
Clara's blood turned cold.
She grabbed Daniel.
They rushed back.
Police surrounded the house.
Margaret's voice came through a loudspeaker.
"I want Clara."
Clara stepped forward.
"No."
Margaret laughed.
"Then you will never hear the truth."
Clara stared at the mansion.
"What truth?"
Margaret answered:
"Ask your mother why you were chosen."
Clara froze.
Rachel looked at her.
"I never knew you before I hired you."
But Margaret laughed again.
"Oh, Clara."
Her voice was almost gentle.
"You did."
Clara's mind went blank.
May you like
Then Margaret said:
"Your mother worked for me."
