Chapter 11 - The Betrayal Inside the HouseSomeone Clara Loved Had Known Everything

Idan was not crying.

He was walking calmly.

Holding the accountant's hand.

Clara stared at the screen.

"Why isn't he fighting?"

Rachel whispered:

"Maybe because he knows him."

Then the video shifted.

Another camera.

Idan entered the hidden room.

The accountant followed.

Then someone else appeared.

Adam.

Clara's heart broke.

The boy turned toward his father.

Adam said something.

The video had no audio.

But Idan stepped backward.

Then Margaret entered.

Clara looked at Adam.

"You knew."

Adam shook his head.

"I did not."

Rachel stepped toward him.

"Then why are you in the room?"

"I followed them."

"You followed your son?"

"Yes."

Clara looked at the screen.

Adam moved toward Idan.

Margaret raised a weapon.

Adam stopped.

Then the video ended.

Daniel looked at Clara.

"Your answer is there."

"What?"

"Your whole case."

He rewound the footage.

Adam was not standing beside Margaret.

He was between Margaret and Idan.

Protecting the boy.

Clara exhaled.

Then another video appeared.

This one had audio.

Margaret's voice.

"You have to sign."

Adam replied:

"No."

"You have no choice."

"I won't transfer the trust."

Margaret threatened him.

"You don't understand what Adrian knows."

Adam answered:

"I know everything."

Clara froze.

The video ended.

Adam finally confessed.

He had known about the trust.

He had suspected Idan was not his biological son.

He had also known his mother had been hiding things.

But he had not known Rachel was alive.

When the emerald disappeared, Margaret told Adam that Clara had stolen it.

She showed him the manipulated photograph.

Adam had hesitated.

Then she threatened Idan.

She said that if Adam refused to cooperate, she would expose a secret that could destroy him.

He had believed he was protecting his son.

Instead, he had helped destroy Clara.

"I'm sorry," he said.

Clara stared at him.

"Sorry doesn't erase what happened."

"I know."

"You let them call me a thief."

"I know."

"You signed the complaint."

Adam lowered his head.

"I was afraid."

Clara stepped closer.

"And I wasn't?"

He looked up.

Tears filled his eyes.

"No."

Clara turned away.

The police located Idan at a private estate owned by Margaret.

They found him unharmed.

The accountant was arrested.

Margaret was nowhere to be found.

Then Daniel discovered a second bank transfer.

The trust had not been emptied.

Thirty million dollars had been split.

Half went to an offshore account.

The other half went somewhere else.

A hospital foundation.

Rachel looked confused.

"Why would Margaret send fifteen million to a hospital?"

Daniel opened the records.

There was one patient attached to the transfer.

RACHEL HAMILTON.

Clara stared.

"Rachel was being treated?"

Rachel looked at the screen.

"I never knew."

Daniel frowned.

"The transfer began years ago."

Someone had secretly paid for Rachel's medical care.

Clara thought of Margaret.

Could Margaret have secretly protected Rachel all these years?

Or was there another reason?

Then a doctor from the hospital called.

He said they had found the original admission record.

The name on it was not Rachel.

It was another woman.

Emily Carter.

Elias went pale.

"Emily."

Clara looked at him.

"Who is she?"

Elias whispered:

"My daughter."
