CHAPTER 3 — THE BOY IN THE SHADOWS
CHAPTER 3 — THE BOY IN THE SHADOWS
Marcus went back to the park the next morning.
The boy was waiting.
Same place.
Same silence.
This time, he wasn’t alone.
A small envelope was in his hand.
Marcus stopped a few steps away.
“Who are you?” Marcus asked.
The boy didn’t answer immediately.
He looked tired. Older than eight, somehow.
Then he said quietly:
“I used to live in her house.”
Marcus froze.
The boy held out the envelope.
Inside: photos.
His wife.
Different children.
Different names written in the background of hospital files.
Marcus flipped through them slowly.
Each page felt heavier than the last.
The boy finally spoke again.
“She doesn’t only lie. She erases people.”
Marcus’s hands tightened.
“Why my daughter?”
The boy looked up.
And for the first time, his voice cracked slightly.
“Because she found out what your wife did to the first child.”
A long silence followed.
Marcus slowly turned the pages again.
At the last photo, his breath stopped.
It was his daughter.
Standing.
Not blind.
Looking directly at the camera.
Smiling… before everything changed.
ENDING
That night, Marcus returned home.
The house was too quiet.
His wife was waiting in the living room, perfectly composed.
As if nothing had happened.
As if the park never existed.
Marcus placed the envelope on the table.
He looked at her.
Really looked at her.
And said one sentence:
“I want the truth… or I will let the world decide it for you.”
His wife didn’t move.
But behind her calm expression…
Something finally broke.
And upstairs—
his daughter began to cry for the first time in months.
Not in pain.
But in recognition.
May you like
Like she remembered everything.
CUT TO BLACK.
