Chapter 3 — The Impossible Recording

The footage spread across the internet overnight.

Millions replayed the final five seconds frame by frame.

Marine biologists were baffled.

Nothing matched the enormous silhouette that appeared behind the father.

It wasn't shaped like any known shark.

It moved too slowly.

Too deliberately.

One retired Navy sonar operator contacted the authorities after watching the clip.

"I've seen that movement before."

"But only once."

He revealed that twenty-two years earlier, a military exercise in the same stretch of ocean had been abruptly canceled after sonar detected an unidentified object nearly three hundred feet long.

The report had been classified.

Officials called it an equipment malfunction.

The operator never believed them.

Meanwhile, rescue teams refused to stop searching.

On the third day...

A diver surfaced, shaking uncontrollably.

He had recovered something from the ocean floor.

Not the father's body.

His wedding ring.

Still on his finger.

The severed hand showed no bite marks.

No cuts.

No signs of any predator.

Just a strange spiral-shaped burn wrapped around the wrist.

Before anyone could examine it further...

The hand crumbled into black ash.
