Chapter 2 — The Truth Behind the Fall Victoria's heel caught the edge of the first marble step. She steadied herself against the polished railing, her breathing uneven. "No..." she whispered. "She's lying." Adrian didn't answer. He kept walking. One slow step. Then another. The distance between them shrank while the entire foyer remained silent. The staff exchanged terrified glances, but nobody dared interfere. Elena still sat on the floor, one trembling hand wrapped around her bruised wrist. Her voice broke. "I begged her to stop." Adrian stopped moving. His shoulders stiffened. "What happened?" he asked without turning around. Elena swallowed hard. "I told Victoria I was going to tell you about the baby." Her eyes filled with tears. "She smiled." The memory made her shiver. "She said your future couldn't include me." The room seemed colder. "Then she followed me upstairs." Victoria shook her head violently. "That's not true!" But Elena continued. "She blocked the hallway." "I tried to walk away." "She grabbed my arm..." Elena slowly raised her sleeve. Dark fingerprints covered her pale skin. "I told her she was hurting me." Another tear slipped down her cheek. "She said if I disappeared... everything would finally belong to her." Adrian slowly closed his eyes. His fists tightened. "And then?" he whispered. Elena looked toward the staircase. "She pushed me." Silence. "I remember falling." "The railing." "The pain." "And then..." She gently placed both hands over her stomach. "I woke up in the hospital." "My baby was gone." Victoria suddenly screamed. "She has no proof!" At that exact moment... One of the housekeepers stepped forward. Everyone turned. The elderly woman clutched a small flash drive in her shaking hand. "I do." / Chapter 1 / 2 10

Chapter 3 — The Recording No One Expected

The housekeeper's hands trembled.

"I cleaned the upstairs hallway that afternoon."

She looked directly at Adrian.

"I found this hidden beneath the console table."

She handed him the flash drive.

"I didn't know what it contained."

Adrian immediately looked toward the home's security manager.

"Play it."

Seconds later...

The enormous television above the fireplace lit up.

Static.

Then security footage appeared.

The timestamp matched the day Elena lost the baby.

Nobody breathed.

The video showed Elena walking slowly through the hallway.

Victoria followed several seconds later.

She looked around first.

Making sure nobody was watching.

The footage had no sound.

But the images were enough.

Victoria grabbed Elena's wrist.

Exactly where the bruises remained.

Elena tried to pull away.

Victoria shoved her against the wall.

They argued.

Elena turned to leave.

Victoria lunged forward.

One violent push.

Elena lost her balance.

Her body slammed backward against the staircase.

She tumbled down every marble step.

The video froze on the final frame.

Victoria stood perfectly still.

Watching.

She never moved to help.

Instead...

She calmly walked downstairs.

Picked up Elena's phone.

Slipped it into her handbag.

Then dialed emergency services nearly three minutes later.

The television went black.

No one spoke.

Victoria's face had become completely colorless.

"It..." she whispered.

"It wasn't supposed to happen like that."

Adrian stared at her.

"You just confessed."

Police sirens echoed outside.

Blue lights flashed across the mansion windows.

Victoria slowly sank to her knees.

The front doors opened.

Two detectives entered.

One of them looked directly at Adrian.

"We have enough."

They walked toward Victoria.

She didn't resist.

As the handcuffs clicked shut...

She finally looked at Elena.

"I'm sorry."

May you like

Elena looked away.

"You should've been."
