CHAPTER 2: THE MURDER THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

The lawyer backed away.

"You've lost your mind."

But Emma refused to stop.

"My mother spent twenty-six years hiding from powerful people."

She pulled out another envelope.

"This arrived after her death."

Inside was a handwritten letter.

The elderly heiress took it with shaking hands.

The handwriting was unmistakable.

It belonged to Prince Alexander.

Her son.

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she read.

Mother,

If anything happens to me, protect my daughter.

There are people inside the family who want our bloodline erased.

The room became silent.

The lawyer's hands trembled.

Guests began whispering.

Emma continued.

"My mother told me the truth before she died."

The old woman looked at her.

"What truth?"

Emma's eyes filled with tears.

"Alexander wasn't killed in an accident."

The ballroom erupted again.

The lawyer shouted.

"Lies!"

But before anyone could speak, a voice echoed from the entrance.

"She's telling the truth."

Everyone turned.

A gray-haired man walked into the hall.

Former Royal Security Chief Michael Bennett.

The man who disappeared twenty-five years earlier.

The elderly heiress nearly collapsed.

"Michael?"

He nodded.

"I stayed silent because they threatened my family."

He pointed toward the lawyer.

"He worked with Lord Vincent."

The crowd gasped.

Lord Vincent was the heiress's younger brother.

A man who had conveniently inherited control after Alexander's death.

Michael continued.

"They arranged the crash."

The lawyer's face drained of color.

"You're insane."

But Michael calmly handed police officers a thick folder.

The doors opened.

Detectives entered the ballroom.

The wedding celebration instantly turned into a crime scene.

The lead detective looked directly at the lawyer.

"Daniel Harris."

The lawyer froze.

"You are under arrest for conspiracy, fraud, and obstruction of justice."

Handcuffs clicked around his wrists.

The guests watched in stunned silence.

But as officers escorted him away, the lawyer suddenly laughed.

A chilling laugh.

"You think it's over?"

He looked directly at Emma.

"You haven't met the real monster yet."

Then he whispered three words.

"Ask Lord Vincent."

Emma felt her blood run cold.

Because Lord Vincent was sitting in the front row.

Watching everything.

May you like

And smiling.

To be continued...
