CHAPTER 2 — The Locked Truth

CHAPTER 1 — The Whisper Beneath the Coffin

Rain hammered the cemetery like a warning no one wanted to hear.

The judge froze, still gripping the boy’s shoulders.

“Say that again,” he said, voice low and breaking.

The boy, soaked and shaking, pointed again toward the coffin.

“She’s alive,” he repeated. “I heard her. Yesterday. They said she was gone too fast—but I heard her breathing through the wall when they passed her room.”

A heavy silence fell.

The stepmother adjusted her black veil, her voice cutting through it like ice.

“This child is disturbed. Grief makes people imagine things.”

But her fingers trembled.

Just slightly.

Enough for the judge to notice.

The boy stepped forward again, desperate.

“I can prove it. Don’t bury her yet. Please.”

For the first time, the judge looked at the coffin not as closure…

but as a question.

He raised a hand.

“Stop the burial.”

Gasps spread through the crowd.

The undertakers hesitated.

Then stopped.

Thunder rolled overhead as if the sky itself had agreed.

And in that moment, something faint happened—

A soft, almost invisible sound from inside the coffin.

May you like

A knock.

Once.
