Chapter 3: The Family She Never Knew
The ballroom doors slammed shut.
Richard tried to run.
He barely reached the staircase before security restrained him.
Hours later, investigators uncovered decades of hidden crimes.
Richard had forged Emily's death.
He had stolen company assets.
He had bribed officials and eliminated anyone who knew the truth.
Everything unraveled because one hungry little girl had played a forgotten melody.
Several weeks later, Alexander stood in the garden of his estate, watching his niece practice on a beautiful grand piano overlooking the lake.
She no longer played for food.
She played because music reminded her of her mother.
Every evening, Alexander sat beside her and listened to the lullaby Emily had once written.
Sometimes they cried.
Most evenings they simply smiled.
On the wall inside the mansion hung a new portrait.
Emily.
Her daughter.
And the brother who had finally found his family again.
When reporters asked Alexander why he had donated nearly his entire fortune to orphaned children, his answer was simple.
"I almost walked past the child who mattered most."
He glanced toward the piano where laughter now echoed through the house.
"No child should ever have to earn a meal by proving they deserve kindness."
