Chapter 2: The Hidden Letter

The ballroom erupted into whispers.

Some guests quietly apologized for laughing.

Others began recording with their phones.

The billionaire ignored them all.

He gently removed his tuxedo jacket and wrapped it around the shivering child.

"When did your mother die?" he asked softly.

The girl's eyes lowered.

"Last winter."

She reached into the torn pocket of her dress.

"I promised to give this letter to a man named Alexander if I ever found him."

She unfolded a weathered envelope, its edges worn from years of being carried.

The billionaire stared at the handwriting.

His knees nearly gave out.

Emily's handwriting.

With trembling fingers, he opened the letter.

If you're reading this, then our daughter finally found you.

I never abandoned my family.
Someone made the world believe I disappeared.
They wanted your fortune, Alexander.
They took everything from me—but I protected my little girl.

Trust no one... especially Richard.

Alexander stopped reading.

Richard.

His own business partner.

The man standing only twenty feet away in the ballroom.

Richard's face drained of color.

Without another word, he slowly backed toward the exit.

Security noticed.

"So did Alexander."

"Close every door," he ordered calmly.

"No one leaves."
