Chapter 15 - The Last DaughterFor several seconds, nobody moved.

The fourth woman stood beneath the cold vault lights, holding the document that had fueled generations of betrayal.
She looked like Isabella.
Like Celeste.
Like Celine.
Like Clara.
Another sister.
Another secret.
Another lie.
Helena's voice trembled.
“I gave birth to three.”
The woman smiled.
“No.”
Richard stared at her.
“You were dead.”
“So were you.”
She walked toward them.
“My name is Elena.”
Celine whispered:
“Who is she?”
Elena looked at Richard.
“Your father's first experiment.”
Isabella frowned.
“Experiment?”
Elena revealed the truth.
Their grandfather had wanted a dynasty impossible to destroy.
He believed bloodline purity would ensure control.
When Helena became pregnant, he arranged secret procedures.
He wanted to create heirs whose identities could be erased and replaced.
The girls were not simply children.
They were assets.
Names could be changed.
Records could be destroyed.
Birth orders could be rewritten.
One daughter could replace another.
The Vale family had spent decades treating human lives like pieces on a chessboard.
And Elena had been the first.
“She was hidden before you were born,” Helena whispered.
Elena nodded.
“I was raised outside the family.”
“And why return now?”
“Because I was promised something.”
She placed the inheritance document on the table.
“Freedom.”
Richard laughed.
“You think that document belongs to you?”
Elena looked at Isabella.
“No.”
She pushed it toward her.
“It belongs to her.”
Isabella stared.
“Why?”
“Because you're the only one who never wanted the throne.”
The room fell silent.
Richard struggled to stand.
“You'll destroy everything.”
Isabella looked at him.
“Yes.”
She picked up the document.
“I will destroy the part that deserves to disappear.”
Sirens sounded in the distance.
Police.
Real police.
Nathan looked surprised.
“Who called them?”
Helena raised her hand.
“I did.”
Richard stared.
“You betrayed me.”
Helena shook her head.
“I finally stopped protecting you.”
The vault doors opened.
Officers flooded inside.
Richard was arrested.
Alexander attempted to flee through the eastern tunnel but was caught.
The blackmail files were recovered.
The financial records were released.
Within weeks, the Vale empire began collapsing.
Businesses were seized.
Politicians resigned.
Judges were investigated.
The family name became a national scandal.
Celeste testified against Richard.
Celine testified about the secret accounts.
Clara disappeared for several months, then anonymously released the full archive to the press.
Elena rejected the fortune.
“I don't want anything built from suffering.”
Helena survived.
She spent the rest of her life helping victims of the crimes the family had committed.
Nathan stayed with Isabella.
But their relationship was never the same.
Too many secrets stood between them.
Still, he stayed.
Not because he wanted the inheritance.
Because he wanted the woman behind the name.
Months later, Isabella returned to the grand staircase.
The marble had been repaired.
The blood was gone.
The railing had been replaced.
The mansion was almost empty.
She stood where she had fallen.
Celeste approached.
“You okay?”
Isabella smiled faintly.
“No.”
Celeste laughed softly.
“Me neither.”
They looked at one another.
For the first time, there was no rivalry.
Only exhaustion.
And something resembling forgiveness.
Then Celine joined them.
A moment later, Clara appeared.
Elena stayed at the bottom of the stairs.
Four sisters.
Four lives.
One family that had tried to bury them all.
Isabella looked at the staircase.
“This is where everything changed.”
Celeste shook her head.
“No.”
She looked at her sisters.
“This is where we finally stopped lying.”
Isabella turned toward the windows.
Sunlight spilled into the once-dark hall.
For the first time, the mansion did not feel powerful.
It felt empty.
A monument to greed.
A tomb built from secrets.
But before Isabella could walk away, she noticed something beneath the final step.
A loose piece of marble.
She knelt.
Pulled it away.
Inside was a small envelope.
Her name was written across it.
ISABELLA.
She opened it.
There was only one sentence.
You think the Vale family was the beginning?
It wasn't.
Below that was another line.
Ask who built this family before your grandfather.
Isabella's smile disappeared.
She looked at her sisters.
And somewhere outside the mansion, a black car stopped at the gate.
A man stepped out.
He carried an old photograph of the Vale family.
On the back was written:
PROJECT FOUR.
He looked up at the mansion.
Then smiled.

Because the truth had never been buried.
It had only been waiting for the right heir to uncover it.
