Chapter 9 - Blood HeirThe phrase haunted Elena.

The phrase haunted Elena.
She returned to Aurelia headquarters and demanded every historical trust document.
Martin found the answer.
A blood authentication clause.
A hidden vault could only be opened by a direct Vale heir.
But the real secret was deeper.
The trust contained an inheritance account worth more than anyone had estimated.
An account created by Elena's grandfather.
Its value had grown for decades.
It was enormous.
But Julian didn't simply want money.
He wanted the account because controlling it would give him leverage over governments, lenders, and international property markets.
"He needed your biological authorization," Martin explained.
"Why?"
"Because the system was designed before modern identity systems existed."
Elena looked at the document.
"My blood?"
"Technically, your genetic signature."
Adrian stepped closer.
"That's why the attacks started."
Elena looked at him.
"Because I'm the only one left?"
Adrian shook his head.
"You're not."
She stared.
"What?"
"Our mother."
Elena froze.
"She can access it too."
Suddenly Julian's plan became clear.
Vanessa wasn't the prize.
The resorts weren't the prize.
Elena wasn't even the final prize.
He wanted to force the family into revealing the trust's location.
And now they had.
The second vault.
Singapore.
The one beneath the estate chapel.
Elena remembered something.
The vault contained one missing page.
The page explaining where the final asset was held.
She called Martin.
"Lock the estate."
He answered immediately.
"Why?"
"I think the second vault wasn't the real vault."
Silence.
"Elena?"
"Check underneath the foundation."
Three hours later, workers discovered a hidden chamber beneath the chapel.
Inside was a metal cylinder.
It contained documents.
And a letter.
The letter was from Elena's grandfather.
She opened it.
Whoever reads this must understand one thing.
Aurelia was never built to enrich our family.
It was built to protect something.
Something Julian Cross must never possess.
Elena's eyes moved down the page.
The final beneficiary is not Elena.
It is her child.
Elena stopped.
She had no child.
She looked at Adrian.
"What does that mean?"
He didn't answer.
Martin found another document.
A medical record.
Nine years old.
Elena stared at it.
It was dated three months before her wedding.
She read the name.
Elena Vale.
Then the diagnosis.
Pregnancy.
Her hands went numb.
"No."
She read it again.
Six weeks pregnant.
Her eyes filled with disbelief.
"I was pregnant?"
Adrian took the paper.
Then looked at her.
"There is more."
A second record.
A hospital discharge.
No baby listed.
The father's name had been altered.
But the genetic code matched Julian.
Elena's knees weakened.
"What happened?"
Adrian looked at her.
"You tell me."
She couldn't.
She remembered the night she had been told she miscarried.
Julian had been there.
He had cried.
He had held her.
He had said they would try again.
She had believed him.
Now she wondered whether their child had ever died.
Her phone rang.
Unknown number.
Elena answered.
A woman's voice whispered:
"Your daughter is alive."
Elena froze.
"Who is this?"
The woman replied:
"Your mother."
The call ended.
Elena stared at the phone.
Adrian's face had gone white.
Then every screen in the room suddenly lit up.
A live video began.
A little girl sat on a chair.
She looked six years old.
She had Elena's eyes.
And Julian's smile.
Then Julian appeared behind her.
He leaned down.
"Hello, Elena."
The video ended.
May you like
Elena whispered:
"My daughter."
