Chapter 11 - The SignatureElena returned to the Grand Aurelia alone.

Elena returned to the Grand Aurelia alone.

The resort had changed.

Julian's photographs were gone.

Employees watched her silently.

She walked through the same lobby where she had been thrown into the rain.

Now everyone stepped aside.

At the end of the corridor, Julian waited.

No security.

No lawyers.

Just him.

"You came."

"Where is Lily?"

"Safe."

"Prove it."

He turned on a screen.

Lily appeared.

Alive.

Eating breakfast.

Elena's knees nearly gave way.

"Where?"

"Close."

"You're a monster."

Julian didn't react.

"You've misunderstood everything."

"You kidnapped my daughter."

"I protected her."

"You lied about her death."

"Because if you knew she lived, you would have searched."

"Yes."

"And searching would have exposed her."

Elena laughed bitterly.

"You expect me to thank you?"

"No."

He stepped closer.

"I expect you to sign."

He placed a document on the table.

Elena looked at it.

The exact agreement she had refused years ago.

But this version was different.

A signature page had been highlighted.

"What happens if I sign?"

"Your daughter comes home."

"And the trust?"

"You relinquish control."

She looked at him.

"So that's all this was."

"Yes."

"Nine years."

"Yes."

"You married me for money."

Julian's expression changed.

"For access."

The honesty was somehow worse.

Elena picked up the pen.

Julian watched.

She signed.

His expression relaxed.

Then Elena smiled.

He frowned.

"What?"

"I signed it."

"Yes."

"But I didn't sign your document."

His face changed.

Elena held up a second page.

An ancient legal form from the family vault.

She had switched the pages.

Julian grabbed it.

"What is this?"

"A transfer declaration."

His eyes widened.

"It transfers control of the company..."

"Yes."

"To whom?"

Elena looked at him.

"Me."

Julian's face went white.

"You tricked me."

"No."

She leaned closer.

"I learned from you."

The doors opened.

Martin entered with federal investigators.

Julian stepped backward.

"You can't."

Martin placed handcuffs on the table.

"Actually, we can."

Julian stared at Elena.

"You still need me."

"No."

"You need my signature."

"No."

"You need Lily."

Elena's face changed.

Julian smiled.

"You don't know where she is."

Elena whispered:

"Yes, I do."

Julian's smile vanished.

She raised her phone.

Adrian had found the location.

A private estate in northern Italy.

The video had been live.

The image had contained a reflection.

A church tower.

A mountain.

A clock.

Three clues.

Enough.

Julian stared at her.

"You're bluffing."

Then Martin's phone rang.

He listened.

Smiled.

"They found the girl."

Julian's shoulders collapsed.

For the first time, he looked genuinely afraid.

Elena walked past him.

But before she reached the door, Julian whispered:

"You think you've won."

She stopped.

"There's one thing you still don't know."

Elena turned.

Julian smiled.

"Your mother is the reason your daughter was born."

Elena froze.

May you like

Julian continued.

"Ask her what she did to you."
