Chapter 2 — Truth Outside the Tower
Chapter 2 — Truth Outside the Tower
By sunset, every major business network carried the same headline.
Founder Reclaims Global Corporation After Years in the Shadows.
Reporters gathered outside Voss Global headquarters.
Camera flashes illuminated the entrance as Elena stepped outside.
Questions erupted from every direction.
"Ms. Voss!"
"Did you orchestrate today's takeover?"
"Were you secretly controlling the company all these years?"
She paused beneath the marble entrance.
"No."
The crowd quieted.
"I created the company."
"I trusted the wrong people."
"I corrected that mistake."
Nothing more.
No insults.
No celebration.
No revenge.
Her convoy pulled away.
Meanwhile...
Damian returned to Blackwood Manor.
Or what had once been his home.
The iron gates remained closed.
Two security officers waited outside.
"I'm here."
One of them nodded politely.
"We know."
He handed Damian an envelope.
Inside...
A court order.
The estate now belonged to the corporation pending liquidation.
"You have one hour to collect personal belongings approved by the receiver."
Damian stared at the mansion.
Years earlier...
He had forced Elena to leave these same gates with nothing but the clothes she wore.
Now...
History had quietly reversed itself.
He walked through empty hallways where servants no longer greeted him.
Paintings had already been cataloged.
Furniture wore numbered inventory tags.
His office safe stood open.
Every expensive watch...
Every luxury car...
Every collectible...
Already belonged to creditors.
Upstairs, he entered the bedroom.
One framed photograph remained untouched.
It showed him and Elena years earlier.
Before ambition became greed.
Before love became ownership.
He reached for it.
Then stopped.
He no longer believed he deserved to keep it.
He quietly walked away.
May you like
Leaving it behind.
Forever.
