Chapter 2: The Truth Hidden for Two Years Alexander walked slowly across the marble floor. Each step echoed through the silent ballroom. He stopped only inches from the maid. Then he looked at the little boy. The child stared back. Same blue eyes. Same tiny smile. The same dimple Alexander saw every morning in the mirror. His breathing stopped. "How old is he?" Alexander asked. The maid answered softly. "Two." Alexander did the math instantly. Two years ago... The night before he left overseas for a year-long humanitarian project... He and the maid, Emily, had confessed they loved each other. The next morning she was gone. His family told him she had stolen jewelry from the estate and fled with another man. He had searched. For months. But she had vanished. Alexander slowly turned toward the woman in white. "You told me she betrayed me." She couldn't answer. "You said she stole from us." Silence. "You said she aborted our child." The woman's lips trembled. "I..." Alexander's voice hardened. "Was any of it true?" She looked down. "No." The confession hit the room harder than thunder. Emily closed her eyes. "They threatened me." Alexander looked at her. "Who?" "My son would be taken away if I refused." She slowly pointed toward the woman in white. "And your father." Every guest turned toward the older man standing near the fireplace. His face had gone completely pale. Alexander stared at his own father. "You... destroyed my family?" His father lowered his head. "I wanted a respectable marriage." Alexander looked back at Emily. Years of lies... Years stolen from all three of them. The little boy gently touched Alexander's hand. "Are you crying?" Alexander smiled through tears. "I think I am." / Chapter 2 / 2 3

Chapter 3: Home At Last

Chapter 3: Home At Last

Three months later...

The ballroom looked completely different.

Not because of the decorations.

Because of the people inside.

This time there were no lies.

No hidden agreements.

No frightened servants.

Only family.

The guests stood to applaud as Emily entered—not wearing a maid's uniform.

She wore a simple ivory dress.

Beside her walked Alexander.

Between them skipped their little son, laughing as he held both of their hands.

The boy looked around proudly.

"I have Mommy..."

He squeezed Alexander's hand.

"...and Daddy."

Laughter filled the room.

Alexander knelt beside him.

"You'll never have to choose again."

The little boy wrapped both arms around his parents.

"Promise?"

Alexander looked at Emily.

She smiled through happy tears.

"Forever."

The crowd erupted into applause.

Months earlier, the family patriarch had publicly admitted his deception before the court.

The forged contracts were voided.

The woman in white was convicted of fraud and conspiracy to separate a mother from her child.

Emily received everything that had been taken from her.

But the greatest gift could never be written into any legal document.

Every morning afterward, a tiny pair of black shoes ran across the marble floors of Hawthorne Manor.

Not searching anymore.

Just running toward the two people waiting with open arms.

And every single time...

He called them both by the names they had waited years to hear.

"Mommy!"

"Daddy!"

Neither of them ever let go again.

The End.
