Chapter 2: The Truth Behind the Marriage

Chapter 1: The File That Shouldn't Exist

No one answered.

The husband, Ethan, tightened his grip around his phone. The smug grin he wore moments earlier vanished.

"I... I don't know what you're talking about," he stammered.

The older man slowly lifted the folder from the scattered documents.

His name was Victor Sterling.

One of the most respected businessmen in the country.

And the pregnant woman bleeding on the concrete was his only daughter, Amelia.

Victor opened the file.

Inside were original contracts bearing the seal of Sterling Holdings.

Confidential investment records.

Private signatures.

Documents that had disappeared from the company vault three years earlier.

His eyes rose to Ethan.

"These records were stolen," Victor said quietly.

Ethan's mother immediately pointed toward Amelia.

"She's lying! She brought those here herself! She's trying to frame us!"

Victor ignored her.

He crouched beside Amelia.

Blood stained her dress as she held her stomach.

"Did you know these were in your suitcase?" he asked.

Tears rolled down Amelia's cheeks.

"No," she whispered. "I packed baby clothes and divorce papers. Nothing else."

Victor's expression hardened.

He stood up and looked at Ethan.

"You recorded your wife falling down the stairs."

Ethan swallowed.

"It was a joke..."

"A joke?" Victor repeated.

Then he held up Ethan's phone.

"Good."

He looked toward his security chief.

"Because jokes make excellent evidence."

Within minutes, police officers arrived.

Ethan's laughter from the recording echoed across the silent courtyard.

No one smiled anymore.
