Chapter 2: The Banquet Falls Apart

The luxurious banquet upstairs continued, unaware that its foundations were collapsing below.

Until Adrian walked into the grand ballroom holding Sophie's hand.

Conversations died instantly.

Valeria rushed after him.

"Adrian, don't do this. Think about the investors!"

He stopped in front of hundreds of guests.

"I have spent years building an empire," he said calmly. "But tonight, I learned that while I was protecting my reputation, I abandoned the people who mattered most."

His gaze shifted toward Valeria.

"You humiliated an employee because you thought status gave you that right."

Valeria's voice cracked.

"You can't believe her over me!"

Before Adrian could answer, an elderly woman stood up from the front table.

His mother.

Trembling, she confessed everything.

"I told Elena to disappear," she admitted. "I thought she would ruin our family's image. Adrian had just recovered from his accident. I convinced him that his past relationship had ended."

Gasps swept across the ballroom.

Years of lies unraveled within seconds.

Valeria realized the tide had turned.

She attempted to blame everyone else, insisting she had only acted according to the standards of high society.

But the guests no longer admired her elegance.

They saw cruelty hidden beneath expensive silk.

One by one, people quietly left her side.

The banquet designed to celebrate wealth became a public lesson about character.

Meanwhile, Sophie looked up at Adrian.

"Are you really my dad?"

Tears filled his eyes.

"If you'll let me be," he answered.

The little girl hugged him.

And the grand ballroom erupted into absolute silence.
