Chapter 15 - The Last GalaSix months later, the city was different.

Black Meridian was publicly exposed.

Hundreds of arrests had been made.

Billions in stolen assets were recovered.

Sterling Global collapsed.

Victoria Sterling disappeared for five months.

Then came the invitation.

The Grand Gala.

Again.

But this time, the ballroom belonged to Clara.

The chandeliers still glittered.

The champagne still flowed.

The same people gathered beneath the same golden lights.

Except now, none of them whispered about Clara Bennett.

They whispered about Clara Bennett Holdings.

The company had become one of the most powerful financial institutions in the world.

Clara entered wearing a black evening gown.

No diamonds.

No crown.

She didn't need either.

Adrian stood across the room.

He looked different.

Less arrogant.

More human.

He approached slowly.

"Are you going to slap me again?"

Clara smiled.

"Not tonight."

"Why?"

"Because tonight I'm charging interest."

He laughed.

It was the first real laugh she had heard from him in years.

Then the ballroom doors opened.

Victoria walked inside.

Silence fell.

She wore white.

Her face was thinner.

Her eyes colder.

Every guard in the room reached for their weapons.

Clara raised one hand.

"Let her come."

Victoria walked directly toward her.

"You took everything."

Clara shook her head.

"No."

"I took back what was mine."

Victoria smiled.

"You're still not asking the right question."

Clara's expression hardened.

"What question?"

Victoria leaned closer.

"Who told your biological parents to create Black Meridian?"

Clara froze.

Victoria whispered:

"Your father didn't."

"Your mother didn't."

"Richard Sterling didn't."

"Someone else did."

Clara stared.

"Who?"

Victoria pulled a photograph from her clutch.

She handed it over.

Clara looked down.

The photograph showed two people standing outside the original Bennett bank decades earlier.

Her biological parents.

And beside them...

a young Evelyn Sterling.

But that wasn't the part that terrified Clara.

Behind them stood another figure.

A child.

Clara's age.

She turned the photograph over.

Three words were written on the back.

THE FIRST HEIR.

Clara looked at Victoria.

"What is this?"

Victoria smiled.

"The truth."

Then every light in the ballroom went out.

The room erupted in screams.

Emergency lights flashed red.

The walls suddenly displayed a single sentence on every screen.

WELCOME HOME, CLARA.

Clara stared.

The voice system came alive.

A man's voice filled the ballroom.

"You have done beautifully."

Clara's heart stopped.

She knew that voice.

Her father.

But he was supposed to be dead.

She looked at Adrian.

His face had gone white.

"Where is he?"

Adrian pointed toward the balcony.

Clara turned.

A man stepped out of the shadows.

Older.

Smiling.

Alive.

Her father.

But he wasn't alone.

Beside him stood a woman Clara had never seen before.

A woman carrying the same family ring Clara's mother had worn.

Her father looked down at Clara.

"You wanted the truth."

He smiled.

"Now you're finally ready for it."

Clara stared upward.

"Who is she?"

The woman stepped forward.

Her expression was eerily familiar.

Then she spoke.

"I'm your sister."

Clara couldn't move.

Her father laughed softly.

"And she's the reason we built Black Meridian."

Victoria stepped backward.

Adrian whispered:

"Clara..."

But Clara raised her hand.

Silence.

Her eyes locked onto the woman on the balcony.

For three years, she had believed revenge was the end.

It wasn't.

The gala hadn't been the final chapter.

It had only been the door.

Clara slowly smiled.

"Then let the real game begin."

Behind her, the doors slammed shut.

And every screen in the ballroom displayed one final message:

PHASE THREE: FAMILY WAR.
