Chapter 13 - Leo's Last MoveLeo's footsteps echoed through the tunnel.

Slow.

Unhurried.

Confident.

Lorenzo raised his weapon.

“Come out.”

Leo laughed.

“You still think guns are what decide this?”

He appeared at the far end.

His suit was stained with blood.

In one hand he held Nora's pendant.

In the other was a remote control.

Daniel whispered:

“The explosives.”

Lorenzo looked at him.

“What explosives?”

“The tunnel.”

Leo smiled.

“Exactly.”

He pressed the button.

A deep boom shook the ground.

Dust fell from the ceiling.

Nora screamed.

Lorenzo pulled her against him.

Leo looked at her.

“You ran to him.”

Nora stared back.

“Yes.”

Leo's jaw tightened.

“After everything I did for you.”

“You hurt me.”

“I protected you.”

“You killed my brother.”

“No.”

Leo pointed at Daniel.

“He's alive because of me.”

Daniel spat blood.

“Don't lie.”

Leo laughed.

“You think Victor is the villain?”

He looked at Lorenzo.

“You should ask your father who really started Black River.”

Lorenzo's father stepped forward.

Leo fired.

Lorenzo's father fell.

“Dad!”

Lorenzo ran to him.

The older man was bleeding.

“I'm sorry,” he whispered.

Then Leo tossed the pendant onto the floor.

Nora stared.

“It's yours.”

“Why?”

“Because I already got what I needed.”

He held up his phone.

A live stream was running.

Thousands were watching.

Leo had broadcast everything.

The ledger.

The family.

The names.

The scandal.

But the footage was edited.

It made Lorenzo appear guilty.

It made Nora appear complicit.

Daniel appeared to be an accomplice.

Lorenzo's security chief looked at the screen.

“Boss, we're surrounded.”

Leo smiled.

“The city thinks you're the criminal now.”

Lorenzo looked at him.

“You planned this.”

“For three years.”

“Why?”

Leo's expression finally cracked.

“Because your father chose Daniel over me.”

Nora frowned.

“What?”

Leo laughed bitterly.

“I was supposed to inherit everything.”

He revealed the truth.

Victor had promised Leo power.

Lorenzo's father had refused.

Daniel had discovered the scheme.

Leo blamed Nora for exposing him.

He blamed Lorenzo for taking the place he believed should have been his.

Then he raised his gun.

“I wanted you both to lose everything.”

Suddenly, Daniel lunged.

They fought.

The gun fired.

The bullet hit Leo's shoulder.

He stumbled.

Nora grabbed the pendant.

Lorenzo pulled Daniel away.

The tunnel began collapsing.

“RUN!”

They ran.

Leo disappeared behind a wall of dust.

The exit was fifty meters away.

Then Nora stopped.

“Wait.”

“What?”

She looked at the pendant.

Something was wrong.

The casing had been opened.

The memory chip was gone.

She whispered:

“Leo never needed the pendant.”

Lorenzo looked at her.

“Then why take it?”

Nora raised the broken casing.

“To make us think the evidence was inside.”

She looked at Daniel.

“Where is the real recording?”

Daniel stared at her.

Then he said:

“Inside Leo's wedding ring.”
