Chapter 13 - Ethan reached the boardroom. The glass walls were shattered.

Chairs overturned.
Security guards lay unconscious.
Amelia was on the floor.
The fake Lily was gone.
And the real Lily was standing beside the window.
She was holding the silver bracelet.
“Daddy.”
Ethan rushed to her.
“Are you hurt?”
She shook her head.
“Mommy got me out.”
He looked at Amelia.
She was conscious.
“Where is the other girl?”
Amelia’s face tightened.
“Victor took her.”
Ethan looked at Lily.
“She helped me.”
“Who?”
“The other Lily.”
Ethan froze.
“She helped you?”
Lily nodded.
“She said her name isn’t Lily.”
“What is it?”
She whispered:
“Claire.”
Ethan remembered the hospital records.
Elena Vale.
A dead identity.
A hidden child.
But why would Victor let Claire help Amelia?
The answer arrived from the doorway.
Adrian.
He stood there alive.
Older.
Scarred.
A gun in one hand.
Ethan stared.
For a moment, neither brother spoke.
Then Ethan laughed once.
“You’re alive.”
Adrian lowered the weapon.
“I’m sorry.”
“You should be.”
“I know.”
Ethan grabbed him by the collar.
“You let me bury you.”
“I had no choice.”
“You had seven years.”
Adrian’s eyes filled with regret.
“I spent them keeping your family alive.”
Ethan let him go.
“Where is Victor?”
“He took Claire to the old Blackwood house.”
“Why?”
“To make her sign.”
Ethan frowned.
“A child can’t sign legal documents.”
“Not legally.”
Adrian looked at him.
“Victor doesn’t need her signature.”
“He needs her identity.”
Adrian explained the final twist.
Claire had been raised under an invented identity from birth.
But Victor had forged enough records to make her appear to be Lily.
If Claire were publicly recognized as Ethan’s daughter, Victor could control the trust through her legal guardian.
And if Ethan died, the control chain would lead directly to him.
“He wants you dead,” Adrian said.
“Then why keep Lily alive?”
“Because if Lily disappears while Claire is recognized, the board accepts Claire.”
Ethan understood.
Victor had created two paths.
One daughter as the real heir.
One daughter as the legal heir.
The difference depended entirely on paperwork.
Adrian gave Ethan a USB drive.
“This contains the original hospital footage.”
Ethan plugged it into the boardroom system.
The recording showed the night of the fire.
2:14 A.M.
Victor entered the nursery.
2:16.
A nurse followed.
2:17.
Fire began in a storage room.
2:19.
The nurse carried Lily out.
Victor followed.
Then another figure appeared.
Ethan stared.
His father.
Still alive.
Walking into the nursery.
Amelia gasped.
“Your father?”
Ethan watched the footage.
His father picked up the second baby.
Then turned toward the camera.
He looked directly into the lens.
And said something.
No audio.
Adrian froze.
“Stop.”
The video paused.
Adrian zoomed in.
His father was holding a note.
The note had three words.
TRUST NO ONE.
Below it was a name.
Victor.
Adrian whispered:
“He knew.”
Ethan stared.
The fire had not begun because Victor wanted the twins hidden.
Victor had started it because Ethan’s father was about to expose him.
Adrian suddenly looked toward the windows.
“Someone is here.”
A laser dot appeared on the wall.
Then another.
Snipers.
Adrian grabbed Lily.
Ethan pulled Amelia down.
Shots exploded through the glass.
They escaped through the service tunnel.
Outside, Victor’s voice came through every speaker in the building.
“You finally understand, Ethan.”
A pause.
“But you still don’t know the worst part.”
The speakers crackled.
“Your mother never died.”
Ethan stopped.
“What?”
May you like
Victor laughed.
“She is the one who raised Claire.”
