Chapter 2: The Slap That Changed Everything

Victor scoffed.

"And who exactly are you?" he sneered.

Damien walked forward without haste.

"I'll ask one final time," he said calmly. "Remove your foot."

Instead of complying, Victor laughed louder.

"This is my wedding. Security can throw out whoever I want."

He pushed down harder.

Ethan groaned in agony.

The next second happened so quickly that the crowd barely processed it.

SLAP.

The sharp sound exploded through the grand hall.

Victor staggered sideways, one hand clutching his burning cheek.

Hundreds of guests froze in shock.

No one had ever dared strike the powerful Ashford heir.

"You hit me?" Victor shouted.

Damien's eyes remained cold.

"You abused an employee for entertainment," he replied. "You mistook wealth for superiority."

Victor's father stood up immediately.

"Do you have any idea who my son is?"

Damien finally looked at him.

"Yes," he answered.

"But the more important question is... do you know who I am?"

Before anyone could respond, several members of the hotel's executive board hurried toward Damien.

Their expressions were filled with panic.

"Mr. Sterling..." the hotel director said nervously. "We didn't know you were coming."

Whispers spread like wildfire.

The owner.

The mysterious billionaire who had quietly purchased the entire Sterling Grand Hotel chain months earlier.

The man standing beside the injured waiter owned everything around them.

Victor's confidence shattered.

But Damien wasn't finished.

He turned toward Ethan.

"Can you stand?"

Ethan nodded weakly.

Damien helped him to his feet.

Then he asked a question that changed the night forever.

"Tell everyone why you accepted this job despite your medical school scholarship."
