Chapter 4: A Different Passenger

Chapter 4: A Different Passenger
The father spoke one final time.
"Put my daughters back in their seats."
No raised voice.
No threats.
Just certainty.
The captain nodded before realizing the man couldn't see him.
"Immediately."
Emily stepped aside.
Without a word.
Passengers silently made room as the two sisters walked back down the aisle.
Girl 2 still held her sister's hand.
This time...
She wasn't crying.
Every phone in the cabin followed them.
Not because they were children.
Because everyone suddenly realized...
They had been watching the wrong people.
The aircraft door remained open.
Ground staff hurried toward the plane.
Not to remove the girls.
To remove someone else.
A supervisor quietly approached Emily.
"I'm afraid your access badge, please."
She froze.
"What?"
"Effective immediately."
The cabin fell silent once more.
Emily slowly unclipped her badge.
As she handed it over...
She looked toward the sisters.
Neither girl looked back.
Minutes later...
Flight 218 finally pushed away from the gate.
High above the clouds, Girl 2 leaned against her sister and whispered,
"Is Dad coming home now?"
Girl 1 smiled for the first time that day.
"I think..."
"He already did."
Outside the window, the aircraft disappeared into the sunrise.
But somewhere far below...

A single phone call had just begun an investigation that would expose far more than one wrongful decision.
The End.
