Chapter 3 – The Truth They Buried

Chapter 3 – The Truth They Buried
The palace was no longer silent.
It was drowning.
Guests whispered in every corner.
Phones recorded every movement.
The story that was supposed to stay buried had already escaped.
But inside a private room beneath the palace...
The boy sat alone.
Mira stayed beside him.
For the first time in years, he wasn't surrounded by doctors, guards, or strangers.
Only one person who remembered who he truly was.
"Tell me everything."
His voice was quiet.
Not angry.
Just tired of living inside a lie.
Mira looked down.
"I thought I would never see you again."
She opened her small bag and pulled out an old photograph.
The edges were burned.
The picture showed two children standing beside a large garden.
The boy smiled.
He was standing.
The boy stared at it.
"My legs..."
"Were never broken."
Mira's voice trembled.
"They made everyone believe you were weak."
"Why?"
She looked toward the palace windows.
"Because you saw something you weren't supposed to see."
The room became colder.
"What did I see?"
Mira hesitated.
Then she answered.
"The night they took me."
Another memory hit him.
A dark hallway.
A hidden room.
His father arguing with the man in gray.
"You promised no one would know."
"I handled it."
A child's voice.
His own voice.
"I saw everything."
The boy grabbed the table.
His breathing became heavy.
"The fire..."
Mira nodded.
"That night, your family wanted control of the company."
"They needed someone innocent to blame."
"And we were the only witnesses."
The boy closed his eyes.
Pieces finally connected.
The accident.
The doctors.
The years of silence.
All planned.
A knock interrupted them.
The old woman from the ballroom entered.
The boy looked at her.
"Who are you?"
The woman slowly removed her coat.
"My name is Elena."
She placed the silver locket on the table.
"I was your mother's closest friend."
The boy stared.
"My mother?"
Elena nodded.
"She tried to expose the truth."
"Before she disappeared, she left me this."
Inside the locket was a tiny piece of paper.
Only one sentence was written:
Protect my son. He is the only one who remembers.
The boy froze.
"She knew?"
"She knew they would come for you."
Mira stepped closer.
"And they did."
Silence filled the room.
Then...
A loud crash echoed from the hallway.
The lights went out.
Darkness swallowed the palace.
A man's voice came through the speakers.
"Bring the boy to me."
Everyone froze.
The man in gray.
He was still here.
Elena looked terrified.
"He found us."
The boy slowly stood.
Everyone stared.
His legs shook.
His body almost fell.
But Mira grabbed his hand.
"Don't be afraid."
The boy looked at her.
For ten years...
The world told him he couldn't stand.
But one person remembered that he could.
He took one step.
Then another.
The entire room watched.
The boy who had been trapped for years...
Was finally walking.
Then the palace doors opened.
The man in gray stood there.
His calm mask was gone.
Because behind the boy...
On the floor...
May you like
Were his first footprints.
And everyone had seen them.
