Chapter 11 - Everything happened at once.Gunfire.

Screaming.

Glass.

Dominic fired until his revolver clicked empty.

Gabriel charged the first gunman.

Marcus disappeared into the smoke.

Sadie crawled behind the table.

Elena grabbed her hand.

“Stay with me.”

“I can't.”

“You can.”

A bullet struck the table.

Sadie screamed.

Elena pulled her into the corridor.

They ran.

“Where are we going?”

“To the old train station.”

“Why?”

“Because your father hid something there.”

“What?”

“The truth.”

They reached the street.

A black SUV screeched around the corner.

Dominic stepped out.

“Get in.”

Sadie hesitated.

Elena pushed her.

“Go!”

Sadie climbed inside.

Dominic accelerated.

“Where's Marcus?”

“Alive,” Elena said.

“Gabriel?”

“Alive.”

Dominic glanced at Sadie.

“Thomas?”

“Alive.”

“You're enjoying this too much.”

“I hate my life.”

They sped toward the train station.

When they arrived, Gabriel was already waiting.

His shirt was torn.

Blood covered his hands.

“Where's Marcus?”

Gabriel looked at Dominic.

“He stayed behind.”

“Why?”

“To stop Thomas.”

Dominic swore.

Sadie stared.

“My brother stayed to fight our father.”

“Yes.”

“Then we go back.”

“No.”

“Dominic.”

“He'll die.”

“He's my brother.”

Dominic looked at her.

“That is exactly why I won't let you go.”

Sadie stepped closer.

“I've spent my entire life being protected by people who lied to me.”

She grabbed his collar.

“I'm done.”

Dominic stared at her.

Then he nodded.

The station was abandoned.

They descended underground.

A steel vault stood beneath the platforms.

Elena produced a key.

It opened.

Inside were boxes.

Photographs.

Medical files.

Bank records.

And one red folder.

Sadie opened it.

The first page was labeled:

PROJECT FOUR.

Her hands shook.

Four children.

Four blood types.

Four identities.

The goal was not medical.

It was political.

The families wanted to control judges, police chiefs, politicians and businesses through bloodlines, blackmail and inheritance.

Sadie's father had discovered it.

Dominic's brother had been used as leverage.

Marcus had been trained to become an enforcer.

Sadie had been hidden as insurance.

And the fourth child had vanished.

Then Sadie saw the name.

She whispered:

“Ethan.”

Dominic turned.

“What?”

“My brother's name.”

Elena shook her head.

“No.”

Sadie pointed.

“It's here.”

Under the name was a photograph.

A newborn baby.

Then another photograph.

A teenager.

Then a man in his twenties.

Sadie stared.

The face was familiar.

Too familiar.

She had seen him before.

Not in photographs.

In real life.

Her hands went cold.

Dominic saw the photograph.

“Who?”

Sadie whispered:

“Dr. Nolan.”

Dominic's face changed.

“No.”

“The doctor who treated me after my mother's death.”

Elena covered her mouth.

“That can't be.”

Sadie turned the page.

A birth certificate appeared.

ETHAN BENNETT.

The signature beneath it belonged to the same man.

Dr. Nolan.

Before anyone could speak, the lights shut off.

A voice came through the station speakers.

“Congratulations, Sadie.”

Her blood froze.

“Your family is finally together.”

Dominic raised his gun.

A screen illuminated.

Marcus appeared onscreen.

Bound to a chair.

Blood running from his forehead.

Thomas stood behind him.

Then a second man walked into view.

Dr. Nolan.

He smiled at the camera.

Sadie stopped breathing.

May you like

Ethan looked directly into the lens.

“Hello, sister.”
