Chapter 14 - Silence.Kendrick looked at Willa.

Willa looked horrified.

“What are you talking about?”

Elena's eyes filled with tears.

“The child was conceived six years ago.”

Kendrick's face hardened.

“By whom?”

Elena looked at Willa.

“I don't know.”

Willa shook her head.

“That doesn't make sense.”

“You were unconscious after the fire.”

“You're saying someone...”

Elena stopped her.

“The truth is darker.”

She revealed the final secret.

The ledger wasn't just financial.

It contained genetic records.

A secret program had been collecting DNA from powerful families for decades.

Penny wasn't the only child involved.

Willa's mother had been part of the program.

Willa and Mara were born into it.

Their bloodline had been considered valuable.

The pregnancy wasn't an accident.

Someone had planned it.

Kendrick stared.

“Who?”

Elena gave him the final page.

One name.

JONATHAN ASHFORD.

“He wanted a successor.”

Kendrick's blood ran cold.

Willa stepped away.

“I don't want this.”

“You don't get a choice,” Jonathan's voice suddenly came from the hallway.

Everyone turned.

He had escaped.

Blood soaked his shirt.

He smiled.

“The child belongs to me.”

Kendrick raised his weapon.

Jonathan laughed.

“You still don't understand.”

He pointed at Willa.

“She was never a waitress.”

“I know.”

“She was never poor.”

“I know.”

“She was never random.”

Kendrick's eyes narrowed.

“What are you saying?”

Jonathan whispered:

“She was sent to you.”

Willa froze.

“By whom?”

Jonathan smiled.

“Your mother.”

Willa shook her head.

“No.”

“She wanted you inside the Ashford family.”

“To kill you?”

Jonathan laughed.

“To marry you.”

Kendrick stared.

“What?”

Willa looked at Jonathan in horror.

“She planned all of this.”

Jonathan nodded.

“The gala wasn't a coincidence.”

Willa's breath stopped.

“The women.”

Jonathan smiled.

“She knew Titan would choose you.”

“The dog?”

“Trained.”

Willa looked at Titan.

Her heart shattered.

Jonathan continued.

“Penny?”

“Conditioned.”

“Kendrick?”

“Manipulated.”

Willa whispered:

“And me?”

Jonathan looked at her.

“The final piece.”

Kendrick turned toward her.

She looked devastated.

“I didn't know.”

Jonathan laughed.

“But you knew enough.”

Willa shook her head.

“I didn't.”

Kendrick stepped closer.

“Willa.”

She backed away.

“I swear.”

Jonathan suddenly raised a hidden weapon.

Willa stepped between them.

The gun fired.

She fell.

Kendrick caught her.

“Willa!”

Jonathan laughed.

“Now you'll understand what it feels like to lose everything.”

Kendrick looked at Willa.

Blood covered his hands.

His expression became terrifyingly calm.

He stood.

Titan growled.

Julian moved forward.

Barrett loaded his weapon.

Elena grabbed Penny.

Kendrick stared at Jonathan.

“You were right.”

Jonathan smiled.

“I know.”

Kendrick raised his gun.

“Losing her changes everything.”

Jonathan laughed.

“Then kill me.”

Kendrick shook his head.

“No.”

He lowered the weapon.

“You're going to live.”

Jonathan frowned.

“Why?”

Kendrick looked toward the security cameras.

“Because everyone needs to see what you built.”

Then he activated the mansion's broadcast system.

Every secret in the ledger began streaming live across Manhattan.

Names.

Payments.

Murders.

Trafficking.

Corruption.

Everything.

Jonathan screamed.

“No!”

Kendrick looked at him.

“This is your empire.”

Sirens approached from the streets.

Jonathan stared at the city.

His empire was collapsing.

But before police reached the mansion, Willa whispered:

“Kendrick.”

He turned.

Her eyes were barely open.

“I need to tell you something.”

“What?”

She touched his hand.

“The baby...”

She swallowed.

May you like

“...isn't yours.”

Then she closed her eyes.
