Chapter 10 - THE WAREHOUSEThe location led to a warehouse on the eastern docks.

Gabriel insisted they wait.

Chloe refused.

Beatrice came with them.

Lena was found alive two blocks away and returned to the estate before they left.

Inside the warehouse, hundreds of wooden crates towered into the darkness.

Gabriel moved carefully.

“Stay behind me.”

Chloe rolled her eyes.

“You've said that a lot.”

“You're still alive.”

“So are you.”

He almost smiled.

Then a metallic sound echoed.

A door locked behind them.

Lights switched on.

Luca Moretti stood above them on a metal platform.

Beside him stood a man in a dark coat.

Gabriel stopped.

His face changed.

“Father.”

The older man smiled.

“Hello, Gabriel.”

Beatrice stepped forward.

Her hands moved.

You should be dead.

The older man laughed.

“You always were difficult.”

Chloe stared.

“So Leo was telling the truth.”

Gabriel's father looked at her.

“You are Chloe.”

She nodded.

“I've heard so much about you.”

“Did you kill my brother?”

He smiled.

“I gave the order.”

Gabriel raised his gun.

“Why?”

“Because Leo stole from me.”

“He was a teenager.”

“He was intelligent.”

“You killed a child.”

“No.”

His father looked at Gabriel.

“Your brother killed himself.”

Gabriel's eyes darkened.

“What?”

“He refused to understand that certain truths belong buried.”

Beatrice stepped forward.

She signed furiously.

You murdered your own family.

His father smiled.

“Your mother has always been dramatic.”

Then Chloe heard footsteps behind her.

Lena whispered:

“Don't turn around.”

Chloe turned anyway.

There were ten armed men surrounding them.

Gabriel's father spoke again.

“Tonight ends the same way it should have ended eighteen years ago.”

He looked at Chloe.

“Everyone who knows the truth dies.”

Gabriel moved in front of her.

His father sighed.

“Even you, son.”

Gabriel aimed his gun.

“I won't let you.”

His father smiled.

“You already did.”

He pointed toward the warehouse floor.

A red laser appeared on Gabriel's chest.

Then another.

Then another.

Snipers.

Gabriel looked at Chloe.

For the first time, he seemed to realize they had run out of exits.

His father raised one hand.

“Kill my son first.”

May you like

A gunshot cracked.

Gabriel fell.
