Chapter 11 - Adrian raised his gun.“Don't move.”

Sebastian smiled.

“You always were predictable.”

Claire stared at him.

“You know my father?”

Sebastian's gaze moved to her.

“I knew Thomas.”

“Where is he?”

“Alive.”

Claire's breath caught.

“Where?”

Sebastian's expression hardened.

“That depends on Adrian.”

Adrian stepped forward.

“Don't involve her.”

Sebastian laughed.

“You've already involved her.”

He pointed at Claire.

“She was born into this.”

“I'll kill you.”

“You've always been very dramatic.”

Sebastian moved backward.

A door slammed behind him.

Marcus rushed after him.

Nothing.

Sebastian had vanished.

Claire stood frozen.

“Adrian.”

He looked at her.

“What?”

“Richard Mercer.”

“My father.”

“The file says he's my biological father.”

Adrian said nothing.

“Is it true?”

His silence was devastating.

“You knew.”

“I suspected.”

“How long?”

“Not long.”

Claire stepped backward.

“You suspected and never told me.”

“I didn't know if it was true.”

“You could have asked.”

“I was trying to verify it.”

“And all those times you looked at me
”

She stopped.

Adrian's eyes softened.

“Yes.”

“What?”

“I was trying to figure out why you felt familiar.”

Her voice shook.

“Do I remind you of him?”

“No.”

“Then who?”

Adrian didn't answer.

Claire's eyes filled.

“I remind you of Rebecca, don't I?”

His silence said too much.

Adrian moved closer.

“Claire.”

She whispered:

“I can't do this.”

He caught her hand.

She pulled away.

For once, he didn't chase her.

Then a scream echoed from the house.

Lily.

They raced back to the estate.

Her bedroom was empty.

The window was open.

A stuffed fox lay on the floor.

Claire collapsed to her knees.

“No.”

Adrian searched the room.

A message was written on the mirror.

BLACK INK.

BRING CLAIRE.

Adrian's face turned lethal.

Marcus arrived.

“What happened?”

“Lily's gone.”

The next message appeared.

TO THE OLD FERRY TERMINAL.

Claire grabbed Adrian's coat.

“We're going.”

“No.”

“I am not staying here.”

“It's a trap.”

“She has my child.”

Adrian froze.

“My daughter,” Claire corrected herself.

But the words had already done their damage.

He looked at her.

Then nodded.

“We go together.”

The ferry terminal was abandoned.

Fog covered the water.

Adrian's men surrounded the area.

Claire stood beside him.

“Where is she?”

A voice came from the darkness.

“Right here.”

Sebastian stepped forward.

Lily was beside him.

Alive.

Terrified.

Claire took one step.

Sebastian raised a gun.

“Another step and she dies.”

Adrian's entire body went still.

“Let her go.”

“You brought Claire?”

“Yes.”

“Good.”

Sebastian smiled.

“Then we're finally ready.”

He looked at Claire.

“You want to know who your real father is?”

“Yes.”

Sebastian pointed the gun at Adrian.

“Ask him.”

Claire stared.

Adrian's face went pale.

Sebastian continued.

“Your biological father is not Richard Mercer.”

Claire frowned.

“Then who?”

May you like

Sebastian smiled.

“The man Adrian killed twelve years ago.”
