Chapter 11 - THE BOY WHO KNEW TOO MUCHTommy was missing.

So was Anthony.
Connor's secret room had been destroyed.
Everything connected to the trust appeared gone.
Luca returned to Chicago.
He refused to sleep.
He sat in the study with Maya asleep upstairs.
Elena sat across from him.
"You trust her?"
Luca nodded.
"Do you trust me?"
He looked at her.
"Yes."
"Then trust this too."
She leaned forward.
"Maya didn't come to your estate by accident."
Luca frowned.
"What?"
"She was looking for you."
"How would she know where I lived?"
Elena hesitated.
"Someone gave her a photograph."
Luca's eyes sharpened.
"Who?"
"Tommy."
Silence.
"He told Maya your face was in an old photo he found."
Luca stared.
"Where?"
"I don't know."
Luca stood.
His legs shook.
Elena instinctively reached for him.
He steadied himself.
"What else?"
"He told her you were her father."
Luca looked stunned.
"How could he know?"
"He said he had proof."
Luca sat again.
Suddenly, every piece clicked.
Tommy had been watching the estate before Maya arrived.
He had deliberately befriended her.
He had discovered the hidden room.
He had learned about the trust.
And he had guided Luca toward the truth.
But why?
A phone rang.
Maya's.
It was an unknown number.
Luca answered.
Tommy spoke.
"Don't trust Anthony."
"Where are you?"
"I can't tell you."
"Tommy, you're a child."
"I'm not."
Luca felt a chill.
"What does that mean?"
"I remember things."
"What things?"
"Before I was nine."
Luca stared.
Tommy continued.
"My mother used to hide me."
"From who?"
"Your family."
"Why?"
"Because she knew what your father did."
Luca's pulse raced.
"Your mother knew my father?"
"She worked for him."
"What happened to her?"
Silence.
Then Tommy said:
"Anthony killed her."
Luca closed his eyes.
"Where are you?"
"I'll show you."
The call ended.
A location appeared on Luca's phone.
An abandoned train station.
They arrived forty minutes later.
The station was empty.
No Tommy.
Only a baseball bat.
Luca recognized it.
It belonged to the estate.
He picked it up.
A note was attached.
LOOK UP.
Luca looked.
A red light blinked on the old station roof.
Security cameras.
Then a speaker crackled.
Anthony's voice.
"You've been very difficult to kill."
Luca stared upward.
"Where is Tommy?"
"Safe."
"Bring him here."
"No."
Luca's voice changed.
"You kidnapped my daughter."
Anthony laughed.
"You still think this is about Maya."
"It is."
"No."
Anthony's voice became quiet.
"It's about the man sitting next to you."
Luca turned.
Marco was standing behind him.
Holding a gun.
Luca froze.
Marco's face was expressionless.
Anthony spoke through the speaker.
"You trusted the wrong man for twelve years."
Marco raised his weapon.
Luca looked at his security chief.
"Marco."
"I'm sorry."
He fired.
Luca moved.
The bullet struck the wall.
Marco fired again.
Luca threw himself behind a concrete pillar.
His legs screamed.
He forced himself upward.
For the first time, he understood why Maya had called his legs sleeping.

Because when death came for him...
They woke up.
