Chapter 16 - The LeakAcross the city, phones lit up.

Hospitals.
Police stations.
Newsrooms.
Government offices.
Every screen showed the same files.
Patient records.
Hidden surgeries.
False diagnoses.
Secret payments.
The world was watching.
Hale’s system began collapsing.
Guards ran through the corridors.
Mara stared at the screens.
“You did it.”
Noah shook his head.
“No.”
He pointed.
“It’s still spreading.”
The archive was no longer inside the facility.
It was everywhere.
His father smiled.
“Your grandfather planned this.”
Noah looked at Elias.
He had been forgotten in the chaos.
Still bleeding.
Still alive.
The old man raised his head.
“I told you.”
Noah knelt beside him.
“What?”
“A cast is just a container.”
He smiled.
“What matters is what you hide inside.”
Then the lights went out.
The grandmother appeared in the doorway.
Alone.
No guards.
No fear.
She looked at Noah.
“You’ve made a mistake.”
“What?”
“You released the archive.”
“Yes.”
“You think that frees the victims.”
“No.”
She smiled.
“It exposes them.”
Noah froze.
“What?”
She continued:
“You exposed every patient.”
Daniel looked horrified.
Names.
Addresses.
Medical histories.
Everything.
Families around the world were seeing private information.
Noah understood.
“She wanted this.”
The grandmother nodded.
“You think I built the system to control people.”
She smiled.
“I built it to make people reveal themselves.”
The world outside erupted.
News anchors spoke.
Politicians denied everything.
Families panicked.
Hospitals locked down.
Markets crashed.
And in the middle of it all, one truth became impossible to hide.
The Mercy Protocol was real.
But it wasn’t finished.
Noah’s father grabbed his arm.
“We need to leave.”
“Why?”
“Because every government agency will want the archive.”
Evan looked at the grandmother.
“And she?”
The old woman smiled.
“I’ve already won.”
She stepped backward.
A hidden door opened.
Noah shouted:
“Stop!”
She vanished.
Mara ran toward the opening.
Empty.
No body.
No trace.
Then Daniel noticed something on the floor.
A red ribbon.
Beside it was a tiny envelope.
Noah opened it.
Inside was one photograph.
His grandmother.
Victor Hale.
And a fourth child.
Noah stared.
“What is this?”
His father turned white.
“That’s impossible.”
“Who is he?”
His father whispered:
“Subject Zero.”
“But that’s your mother.”
“No.”
He looked at the photograph again.
“She’s not holding him.”
Noah turned it over.
There was writing on the back.
HE IS HOLDING HER.
Then came a second line.
AND HE HAS BEEN RUNNING THE PROGRAM FROM THE BEGINNING.
Evan stared.
“Who is he?”
His father whispered:
“I don’t know.”
A phone rang.
No one moved.
It was Noah’s.
Unknown number.
He answered.
A child’s voice spoke.
“Hello, Noah.”
Noah froze.
The voice continued:
“You broke the cast.”
May you like
A pause.
“Now break the world.”
