Chapter 15 - The Voice Inside HerThey carried Noah’s mother into a hidden examination room.

Daniel scanned her.

“It’s active.”

Noah stared.

“How?”

His father looked at him.

“They implanted her years ago.”

She opened her eyes.

Her pupils were dilated.

A voice came from her mouth.

But it wasn’t hers.

“Hello, Noah.”

Everyone froze.

Victor Hale.

His voice.

Inside her.

Noah backed away.

“No.”

Mara whispered:

“The implant is transmitting.”

His mother fought it.

“Run…”

The voice returned.

“You can’t run.”

Daniel ripped open the scanner.

“I can shut it down.”

“No,” Noah’s father said.

“Why not?”

“Because if you shut it down, it could trigger a seizure.”

Daniel stared.

“Then what?”

His father looked at Noah.

“We need the master code.”

“Where?”

His father whispered:

“Inside Noah.”

The room went silent.

The voice inside Noah’s mother laughed.

“You finally understand.”

Noah stepped closer.

“How do I access it?”

His father touched his temple.

“You remember the river.”

“The river?”

“Yes.”

“The car.”

“Yes.”

“The crash.”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because the master code was hidden in the last memory you had before the implant was sealed.”

Noah closed his eyes.

He saw the river again.

His father.

The car.

The rain.

Then something else.

His father handing him a small metal object.

A key.

Noah whispered:

“There was a key.”

His father smiled.

“Exactly.”

“Where is it?”

“You swallowed it.”

Everyone stared.

“What?”

His father shook his head.

“It was encoded into a capsule.”

Noah suddenly laughed.

“This is insane.”

“Yes.”

“But how did it activate?”

“Because you just remembered.”

A new screen appeared.

MASTER CODE RECOVERED.

Daniel moved toward the console.

“Now what?”

Noah placed his hand on it.

The system recognized him.

Thousands of files opened.

Every patient.

Every experiment.

Every victim.

Every payment.

Everything.

Noah stared.

“This can destroy them.”

His father nodded.

“Or expose them.”

Then a red warning appeared.

REMOTE OVERRIDE DETECTED.

Hale had entered the system.

Noah’s father shouted:

“Disconnect!”

Too late.

The files began deleting.

One by one.

Noah fought the controls.

“Stop!”

His mother screamed as the voice inside her returned.

“Choose.”

Noah looked at two options.

SAVE ARCHIVE

SAVE SUBJECT

He realized what Hale was doing.

The system would preserve only one.

The evidence.

Or his mother.

Noah stared at the screen.

Mara shouted:

“Choose your mother!”

His father shouted:

“No! Save the archive!”

Evan grabbed Noah.

“Don’t let them choose for you.”

The timer appeared.

00:10

Noah’s hands shook.

His mother whispered through clenched teeth:

“Noah…”

He looked at her.

She smiled.

“Save them.”

“Mom…”

“Save everyone.”

The timer reached three.

Two.

One.

Noah pressed—

A third button appeared.

TRANSFER.

He stared.

Then smiled.

“I choose none.”

He pressed it.

The system went white.

And every screen in the building displayed a single message:

MERCY PROTOCOL LEAK INITIATED.
