Chapter 6: The Blanket That Saved Three Lives

Chapter 6: The Blanket That Saved Three Lives
One year later.
Emily stood before hundreds of military families at a domestic violence awareness event hosted on an Army base.
She carried the same blue blanket.
The one that had hidden her pain.
She unfolded it slowly.
"I thought this blanket protected me."
"It only protected the people hurting me."
The audience sat in complete silence.
Then she folded it one final time.
"And the day my father pulled it away..."
"...he didn't just expose the truth."
"He saved my life."
"He saved my daughter's life."
"And maybe..."
"...he saved someone else's today."
Colonel Bennett stood in the back of the room.
He didn't clap.
He simply smiled.
Because he knew the bravest soldier he had ever met...
was never in uniform.

It was his daughter.
The End.
