Chapter 7: The Enemy Elena Rivera Never Defeated

Chapter 7: The Enemy Elena Rivera Never Defeated
The rooftop doors slowly opened.
The sound was quiet.
Almost gentle.
But the effect was devastating.
Every conversation stopped.
Every movement froze.
Because the person standing in the doorway was not another guest.
Not another businessman.
Not another family member.
It was someone from Elena Rivera’s past.
Someone she had spent years believing she would never see again.
The woman in black stared.
For the first time that night...
she had no prepared response.
No calm expression.
No strategic move.
Only silence.
Isabella noticed immediately.
She had watched Elena control the entire room.
She had watched her expose lies, reveal secrets, and destroy carefully built plans with a few words.
But now?
Elena looked like someone who had just seen a ghost.
“Impossible…”
The word escaped her lips.
The person walked forward.
A woman.
Elegant.
Confident.
Wearing a dark blue dress.
Her hair was silver.
Her eyes carried years of anger.
And in her hand was a small leather folder.
“Hello, Elena.”
The voice was calm.
But everyone could feel the history between them.
Elena stared.
“Clara.”
The rooftop became silent.
Daniel immediately looked shocked.
“My mother…”
Isabella looked between them.
“Your mother?”
Daniel nodded slowly.
“Yes.”
The woman smiled slightly.
“Not exactly a warm reunion.”
Elena’s expression changed.
“You’re supposed to be dead.”
Clara Morgan looked at her.
“So was Alexander Laurent.”
Nobody spoke.
The comparison was clear.
Too many people in this room had been erased from history.
Too many people had been hiding.
Clara walked toward the center.
Adrian smiled.
“Finally.”
Elena turned sharply.
“You knew?”
Adrian nodded.
“I knew she would come.”
Victoria looked horrified.
“You’ve been working with her?”
Adrian smiled.
“Working?”
He laughed.
“No.”
He looked at Clara.
“I was created by her.”
The words shocked everyone.
Clara remained calm.
“Adrian was young when I found him.”
Elena stared.
“You manipulated him.”
“No.”
Clara shook her head.
“I educated him.”
She looked at Adrian.
“I taught him how the world actually works.”
Elena’s eyes hardened.
“You taught him how to destroy people.”
Clara smiled faintly.
“Only people who deserved it.”
Isabella stepped forward.
“Who are you?”
Clara looked at her.
For a moment, her expression softened.
“You look exactly like Richard.”
Isabella froze.
“You knew my father?”
Clara looked away.
“Yes.”
A painful silence followed.
“Better than most people.”
Elena interrupted.
“Don’t pretend you cared about him.”
Clara looked at her.
“You don’t get to talk about care.”
The temperature in the room seemed to drop.
Because whatever happened between these two women was older than everyone there.
Older than Adrian’s betrayal.
Older than the Laurent family secrets.
“What happened between you?” Isabella asked.
Neither woman answered.
Finally, Clara spoke.
“Twenty-five years ago, Elena and I built something together.”
Elena remained silent.
“A company.”
She looked around.
“Before Rivera Capital existed.”
The guests listened carefully.
“We believed we could change the financial world.”
Clara smiled sadly.
“Then we discovered something.”
“What?”
“That the world doesn’t reward people who want to change it.”
She looked at Elena.
“It rewards people willing to control it.”
Elena’s voice was cold.
“And that was when you changed.”
Clara looked back.
“No.”
A pause.
“That was when I understood.”
Elena stepped forward.
“You started stealing from clients.”
“I redirected investments.”
“You destroyed families.”
“I removed weaknesses.”
The guests exchanged uncomfortable looks.
Clara continued.
“And you?”
She looked at Elena.
“You became a hero by hiding your own sins.”
The accusation hit hard.
Isabella looked at Elena.
Again.
Another secret.
“Is it true?”
Elena looked at her.
“Not the way she says.”
Clara laughed.
“Of course.”
She raised the folder.
“Everyone has their version.”
She placed it on the table.
“That's why I brought proof.”
Daniel immediately moved forward.
“Elena.”
But Elena stopped him.
“No.”
She looked at Clara.
“Show them.”
Clara smiled.
The screen behind the stage activated.
A document appeared.
Old records.
Investment files.
Company transfers.
Then a name appeared.
Rivera Foundation Emergency Fund.
Isabella watched.
“What is that?”
Clara answered.
“The money Elena used to build her empire.”
Elena’s expression remained controlled.
But Isabella noticed something.
A small change.
A crack.
“You used stolen money?”
Isabella asked quietly.
Elena looked at her.
“No.”
Clara interrupted.
“That’s what she wants you to believe.”
The screen changed.
A series of transactions appeared.
Then a signature.
Elena Rivera.
The crowd reacted.
Elena looked at the screen.
She knew exactly what this was.
“This is incomplete.”
Clara smiled.
“Convenient.”
“You removed the second page.”
“Because the second page changes everything.”
Elena looked at her.
“Exactly.”
Isabella turned.
“What second page?”
Nobody answered.
Then Daniel stepped forward.
“I know.”
Everyone looked at him.
Daniel looked at Clara.
“My mother didn’t show you the full document.”
Clara’s expression changed.
Slightly.
But enough.
Daniel walked toward the screen.
“The Rivera Foundation was not created with stolen money.”
He looked at Isabella.
“It was created with compensation.”
“For what?”
Daniel looked at Elena.
“For the damage caused by Alexander Laurent and Richard Laurent.”
The room went silent.
Elena looked surprised.
Because Daniel knew.
He continued.
“Richard discovered what happened.”
“He admitted his family’s responsibility.”
“He created a settlement.”
Isabella stared.
“My father paid her?”
“Yes.”
Daniel nodded.
“But he also asked Elena to protect the company.”
Elena finally spoke.
“Your father wanted to fix his mistakes.”
Clara laughed.
“And you believed him?”
The anger in her voice was unmistakable.
“You always believed people could change.”
She looked at Elena.
“That was your weakness.”
Elena looked at her.
“No.”
A pause.
“My weakness was believing you could.”
The sentence struck Clara.
For the first time, her confidence disappeared.
Adrian stepped forward.
“Enough.”
Everyone turned.
He looked at Clara.
“You promised me control.”
Clara glanced at him.
“And you failed.”
Adrian’s expression changed.
“What?”
“You failed to take Laurent Holdings.”
She looked at him coldly.
“You failed to control Isabella.”
A pause.
“And now you’ve exposed yourself.”
Adrian realized something.
He wasn’t her partner.
He was just another piece on her board.
“You used me.”
Clara smiled.
“Everyone uses everyone.”
The words were brutal.
Adrian looked furious.
Then the building suddenly shook.
A loud alarm echoed.
Security rushed toward the entrance.
A guard shouted:
“Miss Rivera!”
Everyone turned.
“The entire financial system has been locked.”
Elena checked her phone.
Her face became serious.
“Impossible.”
“What happened?” Isabella asked.
Elena looked at the screen.
Then slowly raised her eyes.
Someone had taken control.
Not Adrian.
Not Victor.
Not Clara.
Someone else.
A final message appeared.
A name.
A name that made Daniel lose all color from his face.
Because he recognized it.
The message said:
"You forgot the original owner of the game."
Daniel whispered:
“No…”
Isabella looked at him.
“Who?”
Daniel stared at the screen.
Then answered:
“The man who created all of this.”
A pause.
“The real founder of the empire.”
Elena looked terrified.
Because she knew exactly who it was.
A man who had been missing for twenty years.
A man everyone thought was dead.
A man even Alexander Laurent feared.
“Thomas Rivera.”
May you like
Elena’s father.
