Chapter 15 - The Final DoorThree weeks later, the mansion looked nothing like the place where the necklace had disappeared.

The chandeliers were dark.

The ballroom empty.

The police had taken boxes of evidence from almost every room.

Vanessa was awaiting trial.

Thomas had survived.

Grace was recovering.

Adrian remained missing.

And Mason was no longer a billionaire in the way he had once been.

Much of his fortune had been frozen.

Some assets were seized.

Others were tied up in investigations.

But none of that mattered to him.

He had learned the truth.

Money had protected his family for generations.

It had also poisoned them.

Emma stood in the library.

She looked toward the fireplace.

The white angel statue was still there.

Mason walked beside her.

“You're leaving tomorrow.”

Emma nodded.

“I think I should.”

“Where will you go?”

“I don't know.”

Grace entered.

“You're not leaving alone.”

Emma smiled faintly.

“You're coming with me?”

Grace nodded.

“You spent six years looking for me.”

She hugged Emma.

“I owe you the next six years.”

Mason looked away.

Lily ran into the room.

“Emma!”

Emma crouched.

“What happened?”

“I found something.”

Lily held out the stuffed elephant.

Emma stared at it.

“Inside.”

“What?”

Lily shook it.

Something rattled.

Mason took the toy.

He carefully opened the seam.

A tiny memory card fell out.

Everyone went silent.

Grace whispered:

“Where did you get that?”

“Mommy gave it to me.”

Mason's face hardened.

“When?”

“Before she went to the hospital.”

He inserted the card into a laptop.

A video opened.

Vanessa appeared on screen.

She looked exhausted.

“If you're watching this, then I couldn't stop him.”

Emma stared.

Vanessa continued.

“Adrian wasn't the mastermind.”

Mason froze.

“Who was?”

Vanessa looked directly into the camera.

“There is someone above him.”

Grace stepped closer.

“Who?”

Vanessa whispered a name.

The video ended.

Nobody spoke.

Mason replayed it.

The name was unmistakable.

The person Adrian had been working for.

The person who had ordered the Bellmont fire.

The person who had manipulated Vanessa.

The person who had tried to kill Mason.

Emma looked at Mason.

“Who is that?”

Mason slowly turned toward the mansion's front hall.

Because he knew that name.

He had seen that person hundreds of times.

Trusted them.

Invited them to family dinners.

Let them hold Lily.

And suddenly, every strange detail from the past six years made sense.

The missing money.

The disabled camera.

The fake necklace.

The secret room.

Grace's disappearance.

Thomas's kidnapping.

The shooting.

All of it.

One person had been standing at the center of the story the entire time.

Then the front door opened.

A familiar figure walked inside.

Lily smiled.

“You're home!”

Mason's face went white.

Emma turned.

And the person standing beneath the chandelier smiled.

“Did you finally figure it out?”

The mansion fell silent.

The angel statue sat untouched above the fireplace.

But inside it, hidden beneath the marble base, was one final envelope.

May you like

And on that envelope were four words:

FOR EMMA. OPEN ALONE.
