THE BILLIONAIRE HID CAMERAS TO CATCH HIS MAID HURTING HIS PARALYZED SON... BUT THE 2:17 A.M. FOOTAGE REVEALED A TRUTH THAT DESTROYED EVERYTHING HE BELIEVED

THE MAID, THE PARALYZED BOY, AND THE CAMERA THAT EXPOSED HIS FATHER

At exactly 2:17 A.M., billionaire Gabriel Marlowe watched his new housekeeper lock his nine-year-old son’s bedroom door.

Then she lifted Eli out of his wheelchair.

And dropped him onto the carpet.

Gabriel’s hand tightened around the security switch.

“Stop.”

But Hannah Cole did something even more disturbing.

She pushed Eli’s wheelchair across the room and left it behind.

Gabriel had installed thirty-one hidden cameras throughout the mansion. He trusted no caregiver after firing four of them for what they did when they thought nobody was watching.

Now he was certain Hannah would be next.

Then she placed a small wooden sailboat on the floor.

Gabriel froze.

It had belonged to Claire, Eli’s mother, who had died eleven months earlier in the bombing that left her son paralyzed.

Eli stared at the boat.

“No.”

It was the first word Gabriel had heard from him in almost a year.

Hannah sat beside him.

“You want it?”

“My mom gave it to me.”

“I know.”

“I can’t get it.”

“No,” Hannah said quietly. “You can’t walk to it.”

Eli’s face hardened.

“My dad thinks I’m broken.”

Gabriel felt the words hit harder than any bullet.

Hannah didn’t comfort him with a lie.

“I think your father is terrified.”

Eli looked up.

“My dad isn’t scared of anyone.”

Hannah glanced toward the ceiling.

“People who aren’t scared don’t hide cameras everywhere.”

Gabriel went completely still.

She didn’t know about the camera above the bookcase.

At least, he thought she didn’t.

Then Hannah pointed toward the boat.

“You still have strong arms. You still have a brain. And you’re still angry.”

She smiled faintly.

“Use them.”

Eli planted both hands on the carpet.

He dragged himself forward.

Once.

Twice.

Hannah refused to help.

After nearly twelve painful minutes, Eli finally reached the boat.

He grabbed it.

Held it against his chest.

Then he laughed.

A tiny, broken laugh.

But it was the first laughter Gabriel had heard from his son since the explosion.

Gabriel lowered his head.

For eleven months, he had spent millions on doctors, therapists, equipment and specialists.

Nothing had worked.

A housekeeper had done more with six feet of carpet and a wooden boat than all of them combined.

And suddenly Gabriel understood something terrifying.

He had installed those cameras to catch Hannah hurting his son.

Instead, they were beginning to expose how Gabriel himself had been hurting him.

Because behind the locked doors, beneath the security systems and the billions of dollars, Eli had not only been trapped by his injury.

He had been trapped by his father’s fear.

And that was only the beginning.

Gabriel had no idea what the other cameras were about to reveal.
