Chapter 11 - THE ACCOUNT WITH MY NAMEThe account was in my name.

I had never opened it.

Never seen it.

Yet forty thousand dollars had gone through it.

So had millions more.

The account had been used to move money between shell companies.

That meant if everything collapsed, the paper trail would point toward me.

I would become the financial criminal.

Claire and Ethan would become witnesses.

My father would disappear.

It was elegant.

Cruel.

And terrifyingly simple.

Detectives rushed to freeze the account.

Banks were contacted.

Records were pulled.

Then the system showed something disturbing.

The account had been accessed that morning.

Someone was still using it.

Reyes looked at me.

"Change every password."

"I already did."

"Then don't use your home network."

Too late.

My phone buzzed.

A bank notification.

A wire transfer had just been initiated.

$250,000.

Recipient unknown.

I hadn't authorized it.

But it was being sent from an account under my identity.

Then another notification.

$500,000.

Then another.

The transactions began appearing faster.

Someone was draining the account.

Reyes ordered the bank to freeze it.

But one transfer went through.

The recipient:

Bennett Family Trust.

My stomach dropped.

"What are they doing?"

Ethan understood first.

"They're moving the money into the trust."

"Why?"

"To make it look like you stole it and hid it."

I felt trapped.

Every direction led back to me.

The financial fraud unit arrived.

They began reconstructing the transactions.

My father had built layers of protection.

Fake companies.

False identities.

Forged signatures.

And my name sitting at the center.

Claire had one more piece of information.

"There is a server."

"Where?"

"In the old warehouse."

"The one that burned?"

"No."

"Then where?"

She gave an address.

A building my family had owned for years.

We went there with police.

Inside was an empty office.

No furniture.

No computers.

Nothing.

Then Ethan found a hidden panel.

Behind it was a small server rack.

Reyes connected a forensic drive.

Files began appearing.

Contracts.

Emails.

Payments.

Recordings.

Then a folder opened.

PROJECT NINE.

Inside were dozens of documents.

The first page showed Noah's name.

My stomach turned.

PROJECT NINE was the plan to create a medical and financial narrative around him before his ninth month.

But there was another folder.

PROJECT TEN.

I clicked it.

The title:

HUY BENNETT DISAPPEARANCE.

My blood froze.

There were maps.

Travel records.

A fake passport.

A rental vehicle.

A photograph of a bridge.

And a scheduled date.

Three weeks from now.

Exactly the date on my fake death certificate.

I stepped back.

"They're going to kill me."

Reyes looked at the screen.

"Or make it look like you disappeared."

Ethan stared at the files.

"Your father is planning to vanish."

"With the money?"

"With everything."

Then the lights went out.

Complete darkness.

Someone had cut the power.

A sharp metallic crash came from the hallway.

Police moved immediately.

"Stay here!"

I grabbed my phone.

No signal.

Then a sound came from behind the server room.

A door opening.

A shadow moved.

And a voice whispered:

"Run."

It was Claire.

May you like

She stood in the darkness.

And behind her was a man holding a gun.
